Castiel sighed, toying with the roll of Hubba-Bubble in his hands, listening intently to the music. He hummed appreciatively when the song slowed, and he recognized the words. He opened his mouth slightly, staring out across the dancefloor and watching Dean dance with Pam.
"But under skinned knees and the skid marks. Past the places where you used to learn. You howl and listen, listen and wait for the
echoes of angels who won't return..." he watched Dean's hand dangle dangerously to his partner's back pocket, before sliding it in. Castiel tore his gaze away, stopping on Jimmy and Ruby. He smiled slightly, before sighing.
"Hey there, sweetheart." an Irish accent made the ravenette look up. He smiled slightly, feeling relief rush through him.
"Michelle." the redhaired teen smiled at him, sliding into the chair across from him. "How was your trip?"
"Great, but I'm glad to be home." she pulled something from her jean pocket- the pants were so tight, Castiel tried figuring out how she managed it.- and held it out to him. "Here, I bought it in Dublin. I thought you might like it." He took it, turning it over in his hands.
It was a sapphire, in the shape of a Celtic cross. It had intricate knots carve into it, and hung from a leather thong. "It's beautiful..." he whispered, looking up at his friend. She smiled, leaning back. "It's for missing your birthday."
"I can't accept it," he said simply. sHe raised an eyebrow smirking.
"Who said you had a choice? Besides," she ran a hand through her thick red curls. "It goes better with your eyes than mine." he couldn't deny it; the girl rarely wore blue.
It clashed with her minty eyes.
Michelle yawned cutely, making this tiny noise that he classified as adorable. Her green eyes searched his out, then followed his when they glanced at Dean. She couldn't hide the glimpse of hurt on her face, but forced a smile.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. It was a well known fact that she'd been head over heels for him since day one. It was also a well known fact he wasn't interested in anything more than being friends.
She was mostly okay with it. In fact, it was an easy, comfortable friendship that made him wonder what a romance would be like.
"It's fine, Cas. I'm good, really. Besides, I hear your brother's single." She wiggled her eyebrows, mimicking her older brother- Gabriel.
"Which one? Jimmy's with Ruby."
The redhead let out a startling laugh, that made Castiel smile. "Please, me and him?" the ravenette grinned, nodding.
Jimmy was a nerd. Michelle was an angel. Or so people thought anyways.
"So, Jake?" Jacob was the older brother of the Novak twins. He had moved out and legally changed his last name when their father couldn't scientifically prove the existance of God.
"Mm, he's cute. Smart too." Cas rolled his eyes.
"Should've guessed."
"What's that supposed to mean?" she demanded, angrily.
"You always did prefer older, smarter. Insane," he teased.
"Jake's not insane," she pouted, reaching across the table and snatching his gum away. He pouted as well, staring wistfully at the roll of gum held in front of her covered, yet ample, bosom. "Uh oh... Trouble in a tank top, three o'clock." Cas looked behind him, freezing when he saw Amelia.
"Hey, baby." the blonde purred, plopping into his lap. he froze up, looking at Michelle; pleading with her eyes to help. She nodded slightly, only a fraction of an inch but it was enough.
"Excuse me, whore?" the blonde turned her blue grey eyes on the much prettier redhead. Michelle leaned over the table, the top of her breats just barely visible under the black ACDC shirt. "Get off."
"Why should I?"
"He's taken." Amelia smirked, leaning forward and getting in her face. Castiel groaned inwardly, moving the hand that pale skin had covered when she almost fell out of her tank top.
"By who? You? He's never gonna love you, you know."
"Oh I know. He preffers blondes. But," her eyes looked determined, yet defeated. "It ain't me you gotta worry about, honey."
"Get off him," the blonde, and Castiel turned to look at Dean. "He's taken," he reaffirmed the redhead's previous statement.
"By who?"
"Me," Dean pulled the ravenette up, dislodging Amelia so she landed on the floor. He carefully lifted Cas' chin up and kissed him. Amelia huffed, crossing her arms as she saunteered away. Cas stood stock-still in Dean's arms, blue eyes grateful.
"How'd you..."
"Pam filled me in when she saw you were under attack." Cas nodded slowly, looking up at his 'savior'.
"Thank you..."
"What're friends for?" the blonde smiled brilliantly, glancing at Michelle who was sipping from a neon glass. "Yo, Chelle." Michelle looked up at him, bemused.
"Not gonna happen."
"I didn't even-"
"No." Dean shivered, vaguely reminded of when he'd hit on Kali. The dark skinned teen had shot him down quicker than he'd thought possible. Gabriel had been amused for days.
