The demons had Sam and Gabriel surrounded. It had been a fairly even sort of a fight with Gabriel keeping his power buttoned down to 'just an angel' levels rather than archangel grade magic. They'd argued about it in the past, but it was the best way to keep his presence hidden from Heaven, from any other angels that might either pose a threat, or simply want him to pick up where his other brothers had left off.
An archangel's blade is a singularly rare thing. Created for each archangel by Virgil, it's imbued with the grace of the wielder, an extension of their power. So when the clean, clear sound of an archangel blade being drawn sounded across the hemisphere, someone took note.
Lucifer touched down in a faint rustle of wings, watching the battle with a detatched sort of air. He had little use for the demons and most of them didn't even know that he'd slipped the Cage.
But Sam knew. Such a clever vessel. Lucifer couldn't help but admire the way that his vessel spun and fought, cleaving through demons. Then he caught sight of the archangel standing placidly to the side and his eyes went wide with horror, the color leaving his face. "Gabriel!" A scream of both warning and terror.
"Go to sleep Sam."
A tiny flux of power and the hunter dropped bonelessly to the ground, followed an instant later by the last demon that hand been tangling with his brother.
With Gabriel.
