Thursday 1st April 2004: Die Hard 4 Update:
Writer Mark Bombackw as interviewed about Die Hard 4 that he is currently working on "It's not going to be called Die Hardest, at least not to my knowledge. I think that it was in development at one point and it might have been called Die Hardest, but it was an entirely different plot. It was a whole different movie. It wouldn't make sense to call this one Die Hardest. Maybe they will, I don't know. There are worst titles in the world. I'll tell you this. On my script pages, it doesn't say Die Hardest. We just call it Die Hard 4. I think the only big mandate was to make it feel like a Die Hard film."

Monday 12th January 2004: Die Hard 4 Update:
Jonathan has sent in the following info that he saw on Entertainment Tonight "Bruce Willis was bring interviewed for his upcoming roles in certain movies, among the things he was asked, he was questioned about Britney spears, "Do you think she'll be in Die Hard 4?" Bruce's response, "Funny, I thought I was the only one cast for Die Hard 4!" There didn't seem to be any doubt in his words that he was doing the movie though."

Friday 9th January 2004: Die Hard 4 Update:
Bruce Willis has been talking about the possibility of Die Hard 4 and it definetely sounds like he's warming to the prospect "We're working on it. Fox wants to do it. I want to do it. It depends on the script. After the first Die Hard, I said I wasn't going to do any more Die Hards, and I did two more. So I don't make predictions anymore. If they get the script right and it seems like an interesting story. It's hard today to do. The whole Die Hard trilogy so far has been based on some element of terrorism, and it's difficult in today's world to do stories that fictionally portray terrorism."

Monday 15th December 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Moviehole have been talking to “Semper Occultus” scribe Ben Trebilcook dropped by to let us know there’s a possibility his script for the next “Die Hard” movie, might be the one that gets used. “Die Hard has been one huge quest for me since 1997. I have written Die Hardest for Bruce Willis. I had Andy Vajna's company come close, but he has since sold his rights and is no involved. It's a fantastic script because it gives McClane and his fan base a lot of closure and tidies up stuff that needed to be trimmed or explained. It's with the William Morris Agency in LA at present and I have some good backing and I’m due to head out there in Feb to discuss some issues”. What’s the story then? “McClane isn’t with Holly anymore but is in close contact. The third movie had some flaws and I feel does need to be tied up. His children do feature also, along with some familiar faces fans should enjoy seeing and saying a last hello to. McClane is in Trinidad to represent his Department when he gets in the way of other peoples plans. The reluctant guy he is, just has to get involved as well as patching family up.” He adds, “I have some fantastic people cheering me on. Nobody’s seen what Mr Bomback can produce, so who knows, he may pull off a great one, however I believe I will do the franchise and the fans justice. I’m a fan myself. 35 writers have been hired so far and mine has only been changed by me.”

Monday 13th October 2003: Die Hard 4 Update:
20th Century Fox has hired Mark Bomback to write Die Hard 4. Pending
approval of the script, Bruce Willis would return in lead role and produce
through his Cheyenne Productions.

Monday 13th October 2003: Die Hard 4 Update:
More info on the recent news of ANOTHER writer being hired for Die Hard 4 has just been sent in "Mark Bomback, who did a rewrite on the Keanu
Reeves/Rachel Weisz reteaming Constantine - where
Reeves' character literally goes to Hell and back, has
been hired to pen Die Hard 4.

The premise for this one is being kept firmly under
wraps and sources haven't ruled out completely using
all or 'parts' of two other screenplays presently
being eyed over. This could come in the form of
dialogue, certain scenes and/or characters. Brit
hopeful, Ben Trebilcook, has been asked to come to LA
by Agents at William Morris to discuss his own
Screenplay, Die Hardest."

Thursday 2nd October 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Just received word that Claire Danes name is being mentioned in connection with one of the FOUR Die Hard 4 scripts doing the rounds.

Friday 26th September 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
As Die Hard 4 continues to be rumoured here's an update on the various scripts that have been kicking about:
Die Hard 4: Edge of The City. This was originally the
Tears Of The Sun script, penned by Rob Bass of Rain
Man fame. Set in the Amazon someplace, with a bunch of
mining folk that McClane becomes embroiled with. It
changed somewhat, with McClane searching for his son,
John Jr. This is a script that has had plenty of
Hollywood's elite writing talent having a dabble at.
Due to the Fox owned title Tears of The Sun and a
recent B Dub movie featuring that title, things had to
change - hence - signing up for DH4.

Die Hardest (1): Written by Ben Trebilcook. It features
McClane representing his Department in Trinidad,
though his ulterior motive is to meet his estranged
daughter, Lucy, whom he knows is heading there too.
"Getting to know you again" is pushed aside due to
some 'not what they seem' wreck looters, with a female
villain. It's a dark tale and hopefully brings about
true closure for this character and series. McClane is
old, due for retirement. Familar characters are also
present, along with some nice surprises. This is
presently being eyed up.

Die Hardest (2): Another one to feature the Lucy
McClane character, with yet another male villain.

There have been rumours of scripts being banded around
with settings in space and shuttle launches and San
Francisco kidnappings.

Producer Andy Vajna is definetely no longer involved as he sold the rights back to Fox.

Wednesday 24th September 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
This report just in with more of an update on Die Hardest ""Die Hardest" is the name. Bruce Willis definitely back. In this one, a cleaned-up McClane [in otherwords, he's off the booze, clean shaven and all-suited up] head to a resort to celebrate something of daughter, Lucy's. She gets pinched by someone he burnt earlier - and has to gear up to rescue her. Apparently, it's very, very different from the previous instalments with more of a "Romancing the Stone" element to it than anything else. Willis has got a lot of say in how this one pans out - and that includes casting. It's believed that Willis, Bonnie Bedelia and Reginald Vel Johnson have signed. At the moment they're looking for a ruthless villain and someone to play the daughter. Vin Diesel's name has come up as a contender to play the bad guy, but it'll all depend on whether Diesel can handle being billed below anyone else. And I think they're going for a fresh face with McClane junior. A talented guy by the name
of Fred Dekker is interested in directing it, but it's such early days." Thanks to Anon!

Monday 22nd September 2003: Die Hard 4 Update:
Bonny has been in touch with the following rumour " It's rumored Fox keep
churning the same stuff over and over and Willis and Rifkin are saying no
to
terrorists time and time again. Where's the Brit white hope we heard about?
Trebilcook has just had his script taken on by William Morris, the agency
Rifkin used to pretty much run in the good ole days."

Monday 8th September 2003: Die Hard 4 Update:
Gary Mackenzie told us - 'This is straght from Bruce Willis's offical website & from Bruce himself in a live web chat to fans..."I've had a DH4 meeting today & it's close, it's very close." Yippy ki aye one more time........'

Friday 29th August 2003: Die Hard: Die Hardest Update:
Mr Blonde has been in touch with the following "I've heard that Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) is being rumoured up for directing."

Thursday 28th August 2003: Die Hard: Die Hardest Update:
Moonlighting has just been in touch with the following juicy info on Die Hart: Die Hardest "Sarah Chalke (TV's Scrubbs) and UK's Kelly Brook have
each been mentioned by a coupla LA producers to
portray the role of Lucy McClane in Die Hardest. The
character is required to play Bruce Willis' daughter
in the 'final' installment of the successful
franchise. It isn't known what screenplay is being
spoken about as there are apparently two favorites.
One is penned by Ben Trebilcook and is being
championed by WMA in LA and also high ranking
officials in the NYPD and the other has had 20 or so
of the hottest scribes in the business hacking it
about. Both feature the 'Lucy' character."

Thursday 17th July 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Just received the following info:"Heard that Kelly Brook has been mentioned in a casting suggestion for the role of Lucy McClane in Die Hardest. It's unsure whether it is UK's own Trebilcook's Die Hardest, one that also features a daughter role or another Fox contender entitled Edge Of The City, penned by Ron Bass (previously
known as Tears of The Sun). It's also the third Trebilcook-linked movie to
have Ms. Brook associated to it. The Spy thriller Semper Occultus sees her
in the lead and Mission Impossible 3. The fourth Die Hard movie is supposed
to go into production next year and despite a wide range of support for your
Brit boy Trebilcook from the likes of News Corp and the NYPD, no one has
decided upon a script." Thanks to Bonney!

Monday 9th June 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Bruce Willis has been talking about Die Hard and the possibility of a
sequel in which the interviewer indicates that filming on Die Hard 4 will
start later this year although Willis does not say this himself "Sequels
are not new movies. They're another chapter of a movie you've already seen.
... I have a little distaste for them based on how much TV I did. I always
said the genre had kind of run out of gas and had to reinvent itself. I
think that's the goal Fox has also. Maybe too much time has gone by since
the last one. We'll see. If the first Die Hard were an analog version of an
action movie, the kind of action movies that are being made right now are
all digital. So, Die Hard 4 would have to be brought up to the modern age."

Monday 7th April 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Producer Arnold Rifkin has been talking about the possibility of making a
Die Hard 4 with Bruce Willis. “We want to do it, and we are in active
pursuit,” he said in an interview. “We have probably met with 30 writers,
and the biggest questions that you ask yourself, because one day if we do do
it we'll be sitting here with you, and you're going to say why did you this
movie? So, the reality is, who is he? It's eight years later. What is he
doing, what happened when he was rebellious, he was never within the system,
and you can't have him in the right place at the wrong time again. What
would make sense to any of you that you would be willing to accept that he's
now doing this again? Because he ain't leaping from buildings, we've done
planes, we've done buildings. What is it you do? You don't want to do
terrorists, because then we're going to sit here and you're going to say,
'Wasn't that irresponsible of you to put terrorists back in the White
House?' Or do you want to put terrorists in Yankee Stadium, where the
biggest event is? And that's unfortunately what people, writers come up
with. So we will do it if the right story comes."

Thursday 6th March 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Bruce Willis has been talking again about Die Hard 4 "I could just do Die Hards for the rest of my life and simply play that character, and I'd probably make an okay living. But as much as my job is to be entertaining, I also need to keep myself interested in the work. And for a long time, I haven't been interested in making a Bruce Willis action movie. That would bore me, and I think the audience would be bored, too.Fox certainly wants it to happen, but I think they have a tough job ahead of them. Because within the genre of the three Die Hard films that have already been done, it has always been about terrorism. And to do a film about terrorism right now doesn't seem like a very good idea. It's up to them. I told them I'd be more than happy to do another one if they can get the script organized. But it would have to be a really great story like the first Die Hard."

Friday 28th February 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Bruce Willis has poured more cold water on reports of Die Hard 4 when he said "There is no script." He also felt that it was not a good idea making a movie about terrorism at this time.

Wednesday 26th February 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Tom Jones has revealed that he would love a part in Die Hard 4 "If it comes up, I'd love to. I've only ever played myself in movies so I'd definitely love to play a villain. I know Bruce Willis, so..yes, a villain would be great".

Monday 24th February 2003: Die Hard 4 Update:
Bruce Willis has been talking about the possibility of a Die Hard 4 "I'm sure that Fox wants to see 'Die Hard 4' made because the first three films were so successful, financially, which is the business of studios. It's so difficult in the world that we live in right now to make a movie about terrorists. I think they've kind of hit a wall with that storyline. I said that I would at some point do 'Die Hard 4' if they came up with a script that was interesting and wasn't another version of how could the same thing happen to the same guy four times, which is a difficult job I think for Fox to try to find that script. I could do Die Hard 9. I could Die Hard 200 and just keep doing that film over and over. I try and keep myself interested as an actor. I try to look for films that challenge me, to do new things, to try to entertain people in a different way than I did last time. I've gone on record as saying that I had gotten to a point in my career where I was tired of running down the street with two guns in my hand, screaming, 'Nooooo!' I don't know, I guess I just try to keep challenging myself."

Tuesday 11 th February 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:

Monday 27th January 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
Word reaches us of what might be the plot (and the role that Britney Spears will be taking) of Die Hard 4. It will be set in the Caribbean where John McClane will bump into his daughter Lucy McClane (Spears). The villain of the movie will be Japanese and will centre on McClane resuing his daughter. What is interesting is that McClane will only fire a gun twice with the rest of the action bare knuckle.

Monday 20th January 2003: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest Update:
News reaches us today that Britney Spears is in talks to star in the next Die Hard movie alongside Bruce Willis. The plot is rumoured to involve Willis rescuing Spears after she has been kidnapped and most importantly she will be playing his daughter.

Sunday 5th January 2003: Die Hard: Die Hardest Update:
It looks like Die Hard 4 is a goer. The film is apparently to be called Die Hard: Die Hardest with Bruce Willis returning in the role of John McClane. The script is complete, and LDJW Films claim that a scooper of theirs has read the screenplay. Hit the link to check out what he thought, but beware of spoilers. The aforementioned site also states that Ozzy Osbourne was also up for a role as the bad guy in the film and Ben Affleck was to star alongside, but apparently there is only a 13 week window when both actors are available at the same time.

Friday 6th December 2002: Die Hard 4 Update:
Bruce Willis is thought to have called John McTiernan and asked him to direct Die Hard 4, this was after he had watched a preview of Basic, and if it would have been of Rollerball he would have called anyone else!

Tuesday 29th October 2002: Die Hard 4 Update:
MTV have revealed that the one and only Ozzy Osbourne may be up for a role as a bad guy in Die Hard 4.

Saturday 12th October 2002: Die Hard 4 Update:
Looks like Bruce Willis has agreed to make another Die Hard movie. The news came in this week that he and Cheyenne Enterprises had agreed to this, and it was so that their movie they are working on currently titled Tears Of The Sun can use the title Man Of War, but they didn't own the title, so Fox did them a deal so they could use the title as long as they agree to another John Mclane movie.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do we really want/need another John Mclane movie. Is there anything left for this series to do ? Have they not put him through the wringer enough times. Do we want to see Bruce Willis in another ripped white vest? These are questions that must be answered.

It looks like this Movie is still on the drawing board at the moment with work mainly centering on scripts.

Apparently there are two scripts floating about in Hollywood that could be used. One of them that provisionally goes by the title "Blood Of Eden". Which is apparently in an underwater compound and has a scene where a securit guard battles a band of ninjas. Ninjas , yes you heard that right, Ninjas. Hmm will Jackie Chan be involved in this Movie?

The other script "God and The Devil" which sounds a wee bit Indy Jones is about female treasure hunters chasing Nazi Gold in the sunny caribbean. Sounds like heaps of fun. Apparently the twist with this script is that the ending has an old fashioned serial ending. Ie we dont find out what actually happens, unless they make a sequel. Apparently the idea they are throwing about is whether John Mclane lives or dies? Now considering we have heard about this twist will it not make it a bit pointless going to see the film and just wait for Die Hard 5 ?

More News on this as we get it....

And on 3rd September some more news did arrive, courtesy of a screenwriter from London who is a writer of a Die Hard script called God And The Devil. He claims that if the producers make his script that it will be the end of the franchise. But there would still be the possibility of a spin of a la The Fugutive after that. He was not prepared to divulge any more info than that.

In his script John Mcclane becomes entangled with modern day pirates , led by a female. Danny Glover and Whoopi Goldberg are rumoured also to have parts written for him in his script (they are partners in Willis's company - Cheyenne Enterprises).

Whether any of this is information is true or not is debatable as it was sent to me out of the blue. We shall have to wait and see
