After many hellish work projects and being in hospital for 3 weeks because 3 of my many, many, many chronic illnesses, I came home and logged in to see a shit-ton of PMs asking:
- why there are no hardsubs for EA stuff
- why I am so slow to make hardsubs for EA stuff
- where are the hardsubs for EA stuff
- how long will I take to make hardsubs for EA stuff
- what is the file resolution of my hardsubs of EA stuff
- what is the file size of my hardsubs of EA stuff
- why has no one made mirrors of my ss/zippy hardsub links of EA stuff
- where are my reups of my dead ss/zippy hardsub links of EA stuff
- where are my MQ, smaller sized versions of EA stuff where other people have made super large sized + super HD/HQ hardsubs
- why I don't add you back when you add me on LJ
- why I don't have subs on my LJ
- why I don't make subs/translation from Japanese into English
- why I use sendspace (ss) when it is banned for you and you can't use it
- why I use zippyshare (zippy) when it is banned for you and you can't use it
- why I don't make Mega/MF links for you when you claim "everyone" is doing it
- why I don't find mirror-makers for my ss/zippy links when I know my links will die
- why I don't "just make more ss/zippy links every 30 days whenever they die".
- why I don't help you to troubleshoot whatever problems you have with unzipping, downloading, joining files etc.
- why I am such a bitchy anally retentive fuckwit to keep telling you to check file size before and after download
- why I keep such a bitchy anally retentive fuckwit to telling you update your winrar on the 1st of every month
- why I am so elitist that everything I say is "irrelevant" and "useless" for non-windows users
- why I am so elitist that all my help and instructions are only for windows users

Because of all that, please DO NOT do this:
a) Ask for me subs in PMs or any other means. Yes, I have gotten this since I started helping EA and its owner. I am NOT a subber. I do NOT know Japanese. Just because I make hardsubs for EA doesn't mean I am a subber.
b) Because of reason A above, do NOT add my LJ because you think there are "hidden" subs there. Yes, this has been happening ever since I started making hardsubs for EA. There are NO subs in my LJ. It is my personal, private LJ for fandom purposes. Besides, THINK, if I don't know Japanese, how can I sub/translate things?
c) Bombard me with PMs or anything else asking why it takes me so long to make hardsubs for EA stuff, where are the hardsubs for EA stuff, how long it will take me to make hardsubs for EA stuff. THINK. If work is hell so much so that I don't have time to be online and if I am UNCONSCIOUS IN HOSPITAL FROM ILLNESSES I HAVE ALL MY LIFE THAT HAVE NO CURE AT ALL how the fuck can I do this?
d) Expect me to drop everything to help you and/or give you what you want when you want it in the way you want it.
e) Expect me to spoonfeed you.
f) Expect me to teach you how to get the raw when I don't have time to make hardsubs.
g) Expect me to teach you how to use softsubs and how to watch a video with softsubs.
h) Assume that I exist on earth to make hardsubs for you when you want it.
i) Assume that I will be around when you want hardsubs.
j) Assume that I will be around when EA releases new subs.
k) Assume that I will always be online at the same time you are. TIME ZONE DIFFERENCES EXIST. WORK AND REAL LIFE MEANS I AM NOT ONLINE EVERY SINGLE DAMN DAY.

Because some of you STILL DO NOT BELIEVE ME, let me explain things further.
WHAT IS UNZIPPING? WHAT IS ZIPPING? WHAT HAS WINRAR TO DO WITH ZIPPING AND UNZIPPING?
Winrar is used to zip files. Unzipping is the process of taking the file out from winrar. Still don't get it? Let me explain in baby terms
- Imagine the file you want to download is a big pile of 30 t-shirts. Can you carry that pile around in your arms? You can't.
- It would be easier for you to carry them around if they were in a duffel bag with a zip.
- Winrar is the "bag" that I use to put the file into to make it easier for me and you to "carry around".
- So when you download my winrar file, you have taken the bag of t-shirts from me.
- But the bag is zipped shut and you cannot see the shirts.
- If you want to wear one of the shirts I have just given to you, you must open the bag by unzipping it, take a shirt out, try the shirt.
- Unzipping the file from winrar is the same thing. You have to "unzip" it to get to the file (e.g. open the bag by unzipping it), extract the file by right clicking on the mouse and choosing "extract here" (e.g. getting a shirt out from the bag), play the file when unzipping is complete (e.g. give the shirt a flick so that it is unfolded and you can wear it).
WHY I AM SO MEAN, ANAL, ELITIST, BITCHY, UNREASONABLE, INHUMANE, PSYCHO, OCD, SARCASTIC, HORRIBLE, INHUMAN, ATTENTION-SEEKING ETC
Maybe for your whole damn life you have everyone giving you whatever the hell you want whenever you want it in the exact way that you want it. I WILL NOT DO THIS. If that makes me whatever the hell it is you want to call me, then so be it.
WHY I AM "FORCING" YOU TO DO THINGS, GET THINGS, USE THINGS YOU DO NOT WANT
I am NOT forcing you to do/use/get anything. I am not forcing you to update your winrar. I am not forcing you to get HJSplit. I am not forcing you always check file size. I always tell you exactly what is what, but people either don't want to read, can't read, don't want to use their brains, can't use their brains, don't have brains etc. As a result, these people only know how to demand help instead of using google search, instead of using their own initiative, instead of using their brains. As a result, these people only know how to BLAME OTHERS (i.e. they blame me in this case). Let me just give it to you straight. I TELL YOU THINGS AS WARNINGS BECAUSE THERE ARE TIMES IN REAL LIFE WHEN YOU MUST USE YOUR EYES, YOUR BRAIN AND YOUR OBSERVATIONAL SKILLS AT THE SAME DAMN TIME. I don't tell you these warnings for fun. I don't tell them to you to "give you more work to do". I don't tell them to you to "waste your time". I don't tell them to you to "make life hell/trouble for you". I don't tell them to you because I "like to see you suffer". I tell them to you BECAUSE THEY ARE WARNINGS. If you do not heed my warnings, you may face trouble and/or difficulties and/or problems doing whatever it is the hell you want to do with your file. When these troubles/problems/difficulties happen, it is because you did not bother to read my warnings to try to prevent your trouble/problem/difficulty from occurring.
WHY THE INSTRUCTIONS, HELP AND WARNINGS ARE ONLY FOR WINDOWS USERS
I only use windows. My machine is windows. I don't use a Mac or Linux or whatever you use. Because I don't have a Mac or Linux or whatever you use, I don't know how to use the thing you use. THINK. USE YOUR DAMN BRAIN, NO MATTER HOW BLOODY SMALL IT IS. Just because you use X doesn't mean every single human in the universe uses X too. It's the same if you like food Y, but it doesn't mean every human in the universe will like food Y too. THINK. USE YOUR BRAIN NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HATE DOING IT.
WHY YOU MUST CHECK FILE SIZE BEFORE AND AFTER DOWNLOAD
You are supposed to use your eyes, brain and observational skills. Make sure you check file size before and after download. Do NOT be lazy and skip this step. This step is NOT me wanting to "give you more work to do" and is NOT me wanting to "make life difficult for you" and is NOT me wanting to "make downloading troublesome for you". I keep saying this but people always tell me that only anal fuckwits like me do this. This step is necessary because YOUR COMPUTER CAN LIE TO YOU. Never trust your computer. Your computer can say download completed successfully when the opposite is true. This happens when your 'net dies for a few seconds and then comes back. You won't even notice this has happened, but it occurs more often than you know. When such an incident happens, your computer WILL tell you that download finished successfully when it is MOST CERTAINLY UNTRUE. This is why you must check file size before and after download.
WHERE TO FIND HJSPLIT
- Go to http://www.hjsplit.org/
- Look at the right hand side AND READ FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
- Do this and you will see it lists the different type of HJSplits.
- Choose the one that is right for your machine.
- Click the correct one for you, and download it.
- Make sure download finishes successfully.
- After that, install it.
- It is free. You will NOT have to pay money.
HOW TO USE HJSPLIT
- First, download HJSplit to join all the split files.
- Make sure you install HJSplit after downloading it.
- Second, download all the split files of your hardsubbed video. Make sure all the split files are of the correct size.
- Third, create a folder on your desktop. Put all the split files of a video in there.
- Fourth, make sure all the split files have the same name or you WILL NOT be able to join them.
- Fifth, after you have made sure all the split files are of the correct size, in the same folder and have the same file name, open the HJSplit programme.
- It is very easy to use. There will be a button somewhere that says “join”.
- Click on that and it should join your file.
- Once the “joining” is complete, HJSplit will tell you.
- Sixth, when joining is complete, check that the file size of the JOINED file is the same as the size of ALL the split files.
- When it is indeed the same, you can close HJSplit, delete the split files and watch your joined video in VLC or whatever player you like.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MAKE SURE ALL HJSPLIT FILES HAVE THE SAME NAME - WRONG THING TO DO EXAMPLE
Pretend you have downloaded all the split files to a hardsubbed video called “Koukou_Kyoushi”. Pretend that you have put those files into the same new folder on your desktop. Pretend you open that folder and you see the following:

HJSplit cannot join the file successfully because all the file names of split files are different.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MAKE SURE ALL HJSPLIT FILES HAVE THE SAME NAME - CORRECT THING TO DO EXAMPLE
Pretend you have downloaded all the split files to a hardsubbed video called “Koukou_Kyoushi”. Pretend that you have put those files into the same new folder on your desktop. Pretend you open that folder and you see the following:

Now that all the files have the same file name, HJSplit can be used.
WHY YOU END UP WITH A CORRUPT FILE AND/OR ERRORS AND/OR FILE THAT IS SMALLER AND/OR FILE THAT IS SHORTER IN DURATION THAN ACTUAL SHOW AFTER JOINING WITH HJSPLIT
- You did not check file size before and after download.
- Checking file size before and after downloading, and then comparing them to make sure they are the same are important steps to take.
- After you have checked file size of all the chunks and made sure they are correct, do simple maths and add the file size. That should be the complete video size.
- So if file has three parts with parts 1 and 2 at 50mb each and file 3 at 20mb, you should have a file that is 120mb when joined.
- Never trust your computer when it says download has completed.
- If you trust your computer and one split part is incomplete, HJSplit will join the file incorrectly or incompletely.
- For example, if a file is split into three parts and part 3 is incomplete, your joining will result in a partial video file because HJSplit will only join parts 1 and 2.
- In another example, if a file is split into three and part 2 is incomplete, HJSplit will only convert part 1 into a video and ignore the rest.
- Do you see why I am so "bitchy" in "forcing" you to check file size?
HOW TO CHECK FILE SIZE
Because there are some people who say they DO NOT know how to check file size before and after download, let me tell you. When you are on ANY download site, READ carefully. Somewhere on that site, you will see the file size. WRITE IT DOWN. When download finishes, go to the folder in your computer where downloads go to. Click the file once with the left mouse button so that it is selected. After that, right click the mouse button on the selected file to get options. After that, choose "properties" and you will get a popup. READ the damn popup carefully and look for file size. Compare this number to number you wrote down from the download site. These two sets of numbers MUST be the same. When they are the same, you will know that download really finished successfully.
PROOF THAT MY INTERNET ALWAYS SUCKS + WHY I CAN ONLY USE SS/ZIPPY + WHY I WILL NEVER EVER REUPLOAD + WHY YOU SHOULD STOP ASKING ME TO REUP + WHY I CUT UP FILES INTO SMALLER CHUNKS
My internet SUCKS ALL THE BLOODY TIME. Sometimes it sucks more; sometimes it sucks less. Downloading is slow, but it only takes me something like 6-24hours at most for files that are less than 1gb. But for uploading is a lot more painful and time consuming for me. Proof that it takes me A HELL LOT OF TIME TO UPLOAD STUFF, SEE https://imgur.com/oFckQYG. That's how long it takes to upload a 100mb split chunk. Imagine seeing that all day, every day. Imagine seeing that and having the ETA increase until it times out days later. That is what I go through. Because of this (a) I can only use ss/zippy, (b) I will NEVER EVER REUPLOAD when those ss/zippy links, (C) I sometimes cut files into small chunks with HJSplit, (d) I will NEVER search all of EA's posts one by to reup all my dead ss/zippy files every 30 days.
WHY YOU MUST HAVE THE CORRECT HJSPLIT FOR YOUR MACHINE
Remember what I said about my sucky internet? When my internet sucks so badly that uploads keep failing. I will cut them into 20mb, 50mb or 100mb chunks with HJSplit and upload them one by one. This is why I keep saying you must make sure you have the correct HJSplit for your machine. I keep saying this but people also keep telling me that I am only inconveniencing them by not giving them a single download link containing the whole file. I have a reason for telling you stuff. HJSplit is free. Just google it, find it, download it etc.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT WINRAR WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOWN WHAT TYPE OF WINDOWS SYSTEM YOUR COMPUTER HAS

WHY YOU MUST ALWAYS UPDATE YOUR WINRAR + WHY YOU MUST ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NEWEST WINRAR INSTALLED
- Make sure you have newest winrar installed.
- I keep saying this but people keep telling me that it's troublesome and only OCD fuckwits do this.
- DO NOT THINK LIKE THIS. I zip files with new winrar.
- If your file is the correct size and you cannot unzip it, it means you are using old winrar.
- When you use old winrar to unzip a file that has been zipped with new winrar, you WILL fail and you WILL get error messages.
- I experienced this A HELL LOT. That is why I always download and install newest winrar on the 1st of each month. You should too.
- Winrar WILL NEVER AUTO UPDATE. You must do it manually each month by downloading it, installing it etc.
- THINK. I know you HATE THINKING, HATE READING, HATE USING YOUR BRAIN, but do it this once. I beg you to do it.
- Think. You have to update your anti-virus, the drivers in your computers etc too because they will malfunction and/or stop working if you don't do this. You know that, right? If you can do that with drivers and anti-virus, why can't you do it for winrar? Why do you think it's NOT troublesome to update your computer and antivirus, but you suddenly think that updating winrar is troublesome? Do you see the logic here?
WHY THERE IS NO MQ, SMALLER SIZED VERSION OF HARDSUBS WHEN SOMEONE HAS ALREADY ENCODED HARDSUBS FOR EA
There are many reasons for this:
a) I am not interested in the file and did not download it. Accept this instead of complaining I am mean, unreasonable, selfish, anal, bitchy, elitist etc.
b) I don't have the time to do it. My RL is busy. I have work, which is more important than fandom and online stuff. I have an aged parent to look after, which is more important than fandom and online stuff. I have other RL shit to deal with, which is more important than fandom and online stuff.
c) I don't have the time to do it because I am probably "not here", i.e. not online. I have a shit-ton of health problems that are so severe that I spend 1/3 to 1/2 of each year UNCONSCIOUS in hospital.
d) I don't have the time to do it. I have crap family problems THAT I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR YEARS. That means A LOT OF GOING TO COURT because of fucking harassment, physical abuse, psychological abuse etc.
e) I deem the size of the file (i.e. less than 700mb-1gb) small enough for your machine and/or internet to handle.
WHY IT TAKES DAYS/WEEKS/MONTHS FOR ME TO MAKE MQ, SMALLER SIZED VERSION OF HARDSUBS WHEN SOMEONE HAS ALREADY ENCODED HARDSUBS FOR EA + WHY IT CAN TAKE ME DAYS/WEEKS/MONTHS TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR EA WHEN NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO DO IT FOR EA

D) Time zone differences. When you are awake, I may be asleep. I may be asleep, in hospital, travelling, dealing with real life at the exact moment when an EA release is out.
WHAT IS HARDSUB? WHAT IS SOFTSUB? WHAT IS RAW? HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?
Hardsub = a video file that has the subtitles "glued" permanently to the video. When you play such a video, you will automatically see subtitles.
Softsubs = a text document. It is just words and nothing else. Before you can even use the softsubs, you must get the raw.
Raw = original video with no subtitles at all.
HOW TO USE SOFTSUBS WHEN (1) I AM NOT AROUND TO MAKE HARDSUBS, (2) NO ONE WANTS TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR YOU, (3) NO ONE WANTS TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR EA
The explanation for this will be long and it will assume you know nothing. Read carefully, use your eyes and your brains.
A) You must have the RAW and the softsubs.
B) Raw files are UNSUBBED files, i.e. they have ZERO words in English. All words on the screen ARE IN JAPANESE. All sounds are IN JAPANESE. They are called “raw” because they are like uncooked food and are in a “what you see is what you get” form. Don’t understand me? Let me explain. Pretend you like to eat steak. But all you have is a piece of meat from the butcher. That meat is uncooked; it is raw. That is what I mean with “what you see is what you get”. The butcher will only give you an uncooked (i.e. raw) slab of meat. It is up to you to cook it to make it look, feel and taste like steak.
C) To use softsubs, you MUST download the raw.
D) To get the raw, you must get it from a community that shares the raw files. I will call them "raw comm" to make it easier for me.
E) These communities are member-locked and have joining procedures. It is ON YOU TO MAKE THE EFFORT to find these raw comms and DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to join them.
F) Once you become a raw comm member, it is ON YOU to search that comm for the raw file you want.
G) If you download the softsubs, you MUST have the correct version of the “raw” video before you can watch it.
H) Softsubs are just words in a notepad file. Softsubs are NOT video files. Softsub files typically have the file extensions as follows .ssa, .srt, .ass, .smi
I) Google "what is file extension", "how to see file extension on my computer" on your own to learn more about this.
J) Because SOFTSUBS are NOT video files, you MUST download the raw file on your own. When you have downloaded both the raw file AND the softsubs, you MUST combine them if you want to watch your videos with subtitles.
K) After you download the raw AND the softsubs, get VLC player and Media Player Classic (MPC). They are both free. Search for them on google, download them and install them. DO IT. These 2 players can play almost everything. Usually, if a file has subs and it does not show up in MPC, it will show up in VLC, and vice versa.
L) Now, get vobsub. Vobsub is the programme you will use to combine the raw video and softsubs. If you don’t have vobsub, search google for it. It is free.
M) Download and install VobSub. After downloading VobSub, double-click the .exe file and let it install. If there are instructions, follow them carefully. Once you have VobSub installed in your computer, you don't need to manually load vobsub each time you want to view soft subs. However, if you are using a different computer that does not have vobsub installed, you might have to install it there before you can watch the video.
N) Now, create a file folder on your desktop. After that, put BOTH the softsub file AND the raw file in this new folder you have just created.
O) Now, make sure BOTH the softsub file and the raw file have the same filename. This is very important. If the file names are different, your softsubs will not appear over the raw video.
P) In case, you don’t get it, here is an example. Pretend you have downloaded the raw video and softsubs. Pretend that you have put those files into the same new folder on your desktop.
WRONG THING TO DO

In this "WRONG THING TO DO" case, your player cannot find Eng sub because the file names of your raw video and softsubs are different.
CORRECT THING TO DO
Koukou_Kyoushi_ep02.avi
Koukou_Kyoushi_ep02.ass
In this "CORRECT THING TO DO" case, your player can find Eng sub automatically and your VLC or MPC player will play the raw with subs at the bottom of the video.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO WHEN YOU ARE WAITING "FOREVER" FOR ME TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR EA
- have patience
- accept the reality that you must wait because it will take me time.
- bookmark the EA post containing the file you file
- check the page you bookmarked every day until you see the hardsubs
- when you make the daily checks on the correct EA page, read ALL the comments until you see one made by me containing the hardsubs
- you have to do this because EA mod may not around for hours/days/weeks when my hardsubs are ready and she will not be able to put my links in her post.
- while waiting for my hardsubs, make sure you have HJSplit in your machine. it will save you time and trouble
- while waiting for my hardsubs, download newest winrar and install it. it will save you time and trouble.
WHY IT TAKES SO LONG FOR HARDSUBS TO BE MADE, A.K.A. THE HARDSUBBING PROCESS FROM MY POINT OF VIEW
There are many good reasons why you must be patient and wait for hardsubs:
- Real Life (RL) and work are more important than online stuff, fandom, hardsubbing. Because of that, RL and work take priority.
- Because RL and work take priority, I may not be online when there is a new EA release. Also, I may not be online when you are online and eager to download hardsubs.
- Next comes the preparation process. It's like cooking. You must have all your equipment and ingredients within easy reach, otherwise there will be chaos, mess and failure.
- I do this by checking that I have the latest versions of handbrake and avidemux installed. If they are outdated, I have to download and install the newest versions. After that, I have to make sure they are open and minimised, and ready for use at a moment's notice.
- When that's done, I must download the softsubs from EA and get the raw from the source. EA softsubs are small, so it takes about 2-10mins for download to complete. Raw files can be huge and sometimes can take between 2-26hrs for download to complete, depending on file size.
- When download completes, I must check the "before and after" file sizes to make sure my internet and computer didn't lie to me.
- If/when download of the raw completes, I need to make hardsubs. It takes time. It is not instant. Many people don't believe me, but encoding hardsubs can sometimes take a very long time. I use avidemix and it can take a long time, depending on file type, file size, file quality, audio resolution, audio type etc. Pass one can take up to 2 hours for me, and pass two can take even longer, sometimes up to 6-12 hours.
- If hardsub-making in avidemux fails (and I won't know until hours later when the process either times out or my computer says the process cocked up because avidemux can't handle the video), then I must convert the raw into a format that avidemux can accept and recognise. To do that, I must use handbrake. The conversion can take up to 24 hours.
- Once handbrake conversion is done, then only I can take this new raw and stick on the softsubs by using avidemux. Again, it can take 1-2 days for hardsub encoding to be done.
- When hardsub encoding is done, I need to check the file to make sure that (a) the hardsubs appear, (b) the file plays okay in VLC and MPC, (c) the video is clear enough and not grainy.
- When the checks are done, I have to zip it with winrar. It can take up to 10 mins to zip a file, depending on file size.
- When zipping is done, I have to upload it. My internet sucks, so it can take up to 26+ hours to upload a 100mb file.
- Because my 'net sucks, uploading can time out hours later. This means upload failed. When this happens, I must try again and again to upload, and hope that it won't time out and fail again.
- Uploading is done on 2 sites, ss and zippy. Imagine taking 26+ hours to upload to ss and hoping it will succeed. I have to spend another 26+ hours to upload to zippy.
- Then I must go to the correct EA post and make a comment there with my caveats and hardsub links. While making the comment, I must make sure that it is indeed posted. This is because my 'net sucks and sometimes can die in the middle of post-making and commenting. When this happens, I must try again and again until I succeed.
Do you now see what the process is like for me?
- The process of getting the raw and softsub to make hardsub is NOT instant. I don't snap my fingers and the files magically appear in my possession.
- The process of getting avidemux to "want" to "accept and recognise" the raw and softsubs for hardsub encoding is NOT instant. It is not something that is done in 1 second.
- The process of converting the raw into a version that avidemux can accept and recognise is NOT instant. It can't be done in 1 second.
- The process of encoding hardsubs when all is well with the raw and softsubs is NOT instant. It is not done in the time it takes me to pee, as someone once suggested in a PM years ago when they pestered me for hardsub.
- The process of zipping the file for upload is NOT instant.
- The process of uploading the file to whatever site is NOT instant. Go ask people with good internet how long it takes to upload to Mega, and they will tell you that it takes MORE THAN 1 SECOND.
Even cup/bowl/pot noodles are not instant. After you put in hot water, you have to wait 3-4 mins before it can be eaten. Even then, it'll be too hot and you'd burn your tongue, so you must wait a little longer before eating anyway. So please understand that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS INSTANT GRATIFICATION IN REAL LIFE.
WHY YOU CANNOT UNZIP THE WINRAR FILE + WHY YOU GET DIFFERENT ERROR MESSAGES WHEN YOU TRY TO UNZIP WINRAR FILES + WHY YOU FAIL TO UNZIP THE WINRAR FILE
I must say this AGAIN because people did not read anything in this and still ask me, "Why the file can't be unzipped", "How to unzip the file", "Why I get error messages when I unzip", "This post is TLDR, just tell me how to unzip", "Can you unzip the file for me because I cannot do it myself".
- When you cannot unzip a winrar file, this may be due to two reasons: (1) you used older winrar versions to unzip a file that has been zipped with newest winrar, (2) the file is incomplete.
- Condition (1) can only be remedied by getting newest winrar, installing it and then using it to unzip the file.
- Condition (2) occurs when you do NOT check file size before and after downloading. Sometimes your internet can die for a few seconds or more in the middle of downloading. This happens so quickly that you won't even notice that you have been disconnected for a few seconds and then reconnected again. When this happens, your machine will tell you that download has completed when it is most certainly untrue. When you try to unzip a file like that, of course you will fail. Don't trust your computer. Thus, you should (i) check file size before downloading and write down that number you see on the site, (ii) check the file size after download has completed, (iii) compare these numbers to make sure they are the same.
HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEM 1, AKA PROBLEM WITH WINRAR NOT WORKING
- why you can't unzip.
- you are using old winrar.
- i am using newest winrar, and that's what i used to zip the file.
- when file is zipped with new winrar, it cannot be unzipped with old winrar. attempts to do this by force will fail and you will get error messages.
- precise nature of message differs according to yr machine, location etc.
- to remedy this, you need to google winrar, download the newest version is right for your machine, install it etc.
- after doing all that, use new winrar to unzip the file.
HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEM 2, AKA FILE SIZE PROBLEM
- why you can't unzip.
- you put too much trust in your internet and computer, and not enough effort into your observational skills.
- i'm sorry if this offends you, and/or if you find what i am about to say offensive and/or troublesome, but this has to be done.
- Sometimes your computer or internet can die for a few seconds before coming back. this happens so quickly that you won't even notice. when this happens, your machine will say download finished correctly when this is false.
- e.g., you want to download a 100mb file, but your computer or internet says that the download is complete at 70mb becos your net died and then came back in the blink of an eye. the end result is that you have a file less than 100mb in size. This means your file is of an incomplete size. when that happens, no matter how you unzip the files, you will be doomed to failure. this is because your computer is trying to unzip an incomplete file. Because it cannot unzip an incomplete file, the task will fail. you will get error messages.
- to solve this, you will need to NEVER trust your machine and internet, and ALWAYS use your observational skills by doing this:
a) go to ss/zippy and look for the file size. write it down and put it somewhere where you can see. i will call the file size written there X
b) download the file and wait for download to finish
c) when download finishes, go to the part of your machine containing the file.
d) in windows 10, put your mouse arrow on the file. click once to select the file. now right click on the mouse and choose properties so that you can see the file's properties.
e) under the general tab, look for "size". read what it says there. I will call the file size written here Y
f) are X and Y exactly the same?
g) if yes, good. now, unzip with NEWEST winrar and you will succeed in unzipping the file
h) if no, it means your internet and/or machine cocked up. don't believe me? try unzipping and see what happens. you will fail. why did you fail? this is because your internet died and came back, and your machine didn't even register it.
i) when this happens, you have to start from the download stage again.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU PLAY A HARDSUBBED FILE AND YOU DO NOT SEE ANY ENGLISH SUBTITLES AT ALL
Sometimes, you play a hardsub video and no subtitles show up, i.e. you watch the vid and you only hear Japanese audio and only see Japanese words on the screen. This happens because your machines does not have the right tools to "force" the subtitles to show themselves. In more technical terms, you will need the right codec that matches the encoding method, i.e. the correct codec will unlock and play the hardsub encoded in a certain way. Simply put, a VHS tape can only be played in a VCR. Google "VHS tape" and VCR if you do not know what they are. You cannot play a VHS tape in your computer. You cannot use a CD player, DVD player, Blu-ray player, Laser disc player to play your VHS tape. You MUST use a VCR to play the VHS tape. What can you do if EA mod and I tell you that a file is 100% hardsubbed but you do not see any English subtitles on playing the vid? The answer is simple:
- Get media player class (MPC). It is free and it plays almost anything.
- Go to https://www.free-codecs.com/download/media_player_classic_home_cinema.htm and look at the right side of the page for the words "download". click it
- You will now be taken to a new page. Download the file and install it.
- Always go back to the source site to download new updated versions. I do this once a month because the process is not automatic.
- You have to always get the newest updated versions because the latest ones have the newest codecs that can play almost anything.
- Get Video Lan Client (VLC) player. It is free and it plays almost anything.
- Go to https://www.free-codecs.com/download/vlc_media_player.htm
and look at the right side of the page for the words "download". click it
- You will now be taken to a new page. Download the file and install it.
- Always go back to the source site to download new updated versions. I do this once a month because the process is not automatic.

- You will NEED BOTH MPC AND VLC. Make sure you get them both. Do it.
- The reason you need both is because sometimes the subtitles in a hardsub vid will ONLY show up when you play it in MPC. This means when you try to play such a hardsub vid on any other programme, you will see NO subtitles at all.
- The reason you need both is because sometimes the subtitles in a hardsub vid will ONLY show up when you play it in VLC. This means when you try to play such a hardsub vid on any other programme, you will see NO subtitles at all.
- The idea is ALWAYS to try playing the hardsub vid on MPC first. If the hardsubs don't show up, then try playing the same vid in VLC.
In short, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD IN YOUR DOWNLOADING LIFE + YOUR SUBBED VIDEO WATCHING LIFE
a) always download and install newest winrar every month. no machine in the world does this automatically. it's up to you to do this. this is important for the health of your machine. winrar is free, just google it. if this is troublesome for you and you keep clinging to your old winrar, then you will be plagued by the problem of failing to unzip stuff 9/10 times.
b) always check file size before and after download by comparing the numbers. if this is too troublesome for you, then it means you will probably encounter this "failing to unzip" problem with other files from other places in the future too.
c) make sure you already have HJSplit installed in your machine.
d) always download and install newest MPC every month. no machine in the world does this automatically. it's up to you to do this.
e) download and install newest VLC every month. no machine in the world does this automatically. it's up to you to do this.

WHAT IS UNZIPPING? WHAT IS ZIPPING? WHAT HAS WINRAR TO DO WITH ZIPPING AND UNZIPPING?
Winrar is used to zip files. Unzipping is the process of taking the file out from winrar. Still don't get it? Let me explain in baby terms
- Imagine the file you want to download is a big pile of 30 t-shirts. Can you carry that pile around in your arms? You can't.
- It would be easier for you to carry them around if they were in a duffel bag with a zip.
- Winrar is the "bag" that I use to put the file into to make it easier for me and you to "carry around".
- So when you download my winrar file, you have taken the bag of t-shirts from me.
- But the bag is zipped shut and you cannot see the shirts.
- If you want to wear one of the shirts I have just given to you, you must open the bag by unzipping it, take a shirt out, try the shirt.
- Unzipping the file from winrar is the same thing. You have to "unzip" it to get to the file (e.g. open the bag by unzipping it), extract the file by right clicking on the mouse and choosing "extract here" (e.g. getting a shirt out from the bag), play the file when unzipping is complete (e.g. give the shirt a flick so that it is unfolded and you can wear it).
WHY I AM SO MEAN, ANAL, ELITIST, BITCHY, UNREASONABLE, INHUMANE, PSYCHO, OCD, SARCASTIC, HORRIBLE, INHUMAN, ATTENTION-SEEKING ETC

I only use windows. My machine is windows. I don't use a Mac or Linux or whatever you use. Because I don't have a Mac or Linux or whatever you use, I don't know how to use the thing you use. THINK. USE YOUR DAMN BRAIN, NO MATTER HOW BLOODY SMALL IT IS. Just because you use X doesn't mean every single human in the universe uses X too. It's the same if you like food Y, but it doesn't mean every human in the universe will like food Y too. THINK. USE YOUR BRAIN NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HATE DOING IT.
WHY YOU MUST CHECK FILE SIZE BEFORE AND AFTER DOWNLOAD
You are supposed to use your eyes, brain and observational skills. Make sure you check file size before and after download. Do NOT be lazy and skip this step. This step is NOT me wanting to "give you more work to do" and is NOT me wanting to "make life difficult for you" and is NOT me wanting to "make downloading troublesome for you". I keep saying this but people always tell me that only anal fuckwits like me do this. This step is necessary because YOUR COMPUTER CAN LIE TO YOU. Never trust your computer. Your computer can say download completed successfully when the opposite is true. This happens when your 'net dies for a few seconds and then comes back. You won't even notice this has happened, but it occurs more often than you know. When such an incident happens, your computer WILL tell you that download finished successfully when it is MOST CERTAINLY UNTRUE. This is why you must check file size before and after download.
WHERE TO FIND HJSPLIT
- Go to http://www.hjsplit.org/
- Look at the right hand side AND READ FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
- Do this and you will see it lists the different type of HJSplits.
- Choose the one that is right for your machine.
- Click the correct one for you, and download it.
- Make sure download finishes successfully.
- After that, install it.
- It is free. You will NOT have to pay money.
HOW TO USE HJSPLIT
- First, download HJSplit to join all the split files.
- Make sure you install HJSplit after downloading it.
- Second, download all the split files of your hardsubbed video. Make sure all the split files are of the correct size.
- Third, create a folder on your desktop. Put all the split files of a video in there.
- Fourth, make sure all the split files have the same name or you WILL NOT be able to join them.
- Fifth, after you have made sure all the split files are of the correct size, in the same folder and have the same file name, open the HJSplit programme.
- It is very easy to use. There will be a button somewhere that says “join”.
- Click on that and it should join your file.
- Once the “joining” is complete, HJSplit will tell you.
- Sixth, when joining is complete, check that the file size of the JOINED file is the same as the size of ALL the split files.
- When it is indeed the same, you can close HJSplit, delete the split files and watch your joined video in VLC or whatever player you like.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MAKE SURE ALL HJSPLIT FILES HAVE THE SAME NAME - WRONG THING TO DO EXAMPLE
Pretend you have downloaded all the split files to a hardsubbed video called “Koukou_Kyoushi”. Pretend that you have put those files into the same new folder on your desktop. Pretend you open that folder and you see the following:

HJSplit cannot join the file successfully because all the file names of split files are different.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MAKE SURE ALL HJSPLIT FILES HAVE THE SAME NAME - CORRECT THING TO DO EXAMPLE
Pretend you have downloaded all the split files to a hardsubbed video called “Koukou_Kyoushi”. Pretend that you have put those files into the same new folder on your desktop. Pretend you open that folder and you see the following:
Koukou_Kyoushi_ep02.avi.001
Koukou_Kyoushi_ep02.avi.002
Koukou_Kyoushi_ep02.avi.003
Koukou_Kyoushi_ep02.avi.004
Now that all the files have the same file name, HJSplit can be used.
WHY YOU END UP WITH A CORRUPT FILE AND/OR ERRORS AND/OR FILE THAT IS SMALLER AND/OR FILE THAT IS SHORTER IN DURATION THAN ACTUAL SHOW AFTER JOINING WITH HJSPLIT
- You did not check file size before and after download.
- Checking file size before and after downloading, and then comparing them to make sure they are the same are important steps to take.
- After you have checked file size of all the chunks and made sure they are correct, do simple maths and add the file size. That should be the complete video size.
- So if file has three parts with parts 1 and 2 at 50mb each and file 3 at 20mb, you should have a file that is 120mb when joined.
- Never trust your computer when it says download has completed.
- If you trust your computer and one split part is incomplete, HJSplit will join the file incorrectly or incompletely.
- For example, if a file is split into three parts and part 3 is incomplete, your joining will result in a partial video file because HJSplit will only join parts 1 and 2.
- In another example, if a file is split into three and part 2 is incomplete, HJSplit will only convert part 1 into a video and ignore the rest.
- Do you see why I am so "bitchy" in "forcing" you to check file size?
HOW TO CHECK FILE SIZE
Because there are some people who say they DO NOT know how to check file size before and after download, let me tell you. When you are on ANY download site, READ carefully. Somewhere on that site, you will see the file size. WRITE IT DOWN. When download finishes, go to the folder in your computer where downloads go to. Click the file once with the left mouse button so that it is selected. After that, right click the mouse button on the selected file to get options. After that, choose "properties" and you will get a popup. READ the damn popup carefully and look for file size. Compare this number to number you wrote down from the download site. These two sets of numbers MUST be the same. When they are the same, you will know that download really finished successfully.

My internet SUCKS ALL THE BLOODY TIME. Sometimes it sucks more; sometimes it sucks less. Downloading is slow, but it only takes me something like 6-24hours at most for files that are less than 1gb. But for uploading is a lot more painful and time consuming for me. Proof that it takes me A HELL LOT OF TIME TO UPLOAD STUFF, SEE https://imgur.com/oFckQYG. That's how long it takes to upload a 100mb split chunk. Imagine seeing that all day, every day. Imagine seeing that and having the ETA increase until it times out days later. That is what I go through. Because of this (a) I can only use ss/zippy, (b) I will NEVER EVER REUPLOAD when those ss/zippy links, (C) I sometimes cut files into small chunks with HJSplit, (d) I will NEVER search all of EA's posts one by to reup all my dead ss/zippy files every 30 days.
WHY YOU MUST HAVE THE CORRECT HJSPLIT FOR YOUR MACHINE
Remember what I said about my sucky internet? When my internet sucks so badly that uploads keep failing. I will cut them into 20mb, 50mb or 100mb chunks with HJSplit and upload them one by one. This is why I keep saying you must make sure you have the correct HJSplit for your machine. I keep saying this but people also keep telling me that I am only inconveniencing them by not giving them a single download link containing the whole file. I have a reason for telling you stuff. HJSplit is free. Just google it, find it, download it etc.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT WINRAR WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOWN WHAT TYPE OF WINDOWS SYSTEM YOUR COMPUTER HAS

WHY YOU MUST ALWAYS UPDATE YOUR WINRAR + WHY YOU MUST ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NEWEST WINRAR INSTALLED
- Make sure you have newest winrar installed.
- I keep saying this but people keep telling me that it's troublesome and only OCD fuckwits do this.
- DO NOT THINK LIKE THIS. I zip files with new winrar.
- If your file is the correct size and you cannot unzip it, it means you are using old winrar.
- When you use old winrar to unzip a file that has been zipped with new winrar, you WILL fail and you WILL get error messages.
- I experienced this A HELL LOT. That is why I always download and install newest winrar on the 1st of each month. You should too.
- Winrar WILL NEVER AUTO UPDATE. You must do it manually each month by downloading it, installing it etc.
- THINK. I know you HATE THINKING, HATE READING, HATE USING YOUR BRAIN, but do it this once. I beg you to do it.
- Think. You have to update your anti-virus, the drivers in your computers etc too because they will malfunction and/or stop working if you don't do this. You know that, right? If you can do that with drivers and anti-virus, why can't you do it for winrar? Why do you think it's NOT troublesome to update your computer and antivirus, but you suddenly think that updating winrar is troublesome? Do you see the logic here?
WHY THERE IS NO MQ, SMALLER SIZED VERSION OF HARDSUBS WHEN SOMEONE HAS ALREADY ENCODED HARDSUBS FOR EA
There are many reasons for this:
a) I am not interested in the file and did not download it. Accept this instead of complaining I am mean, unreasonable, selfish, anal, bitchy, elitist etc.
b) I don't have the time to do it. My RL is busy. I have work, which is more important than fandom and online stuff. I have an aged parent to look after, which is more important than fandom and online stuff. I have other RL shit to deal with, which is more important than fandom and online stuff.
c) I don't have the time to do it because I am probably "not here", i.e. not online. I have a shit-ton of health problems that are so severe that I spend 1/3 to 1/2 of each year UNCONSCIOUS in hospital.
d) I don't have the time to do it. I have crap family problems THAT I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR YEARS. That means A LOT OF GOING TO COURT because of fucking harassment, physical abuse, psychological abuse etc.
e) I deem the size of the file (i.e. less than 700mb-1gb) small enough for your machine and/or internet to handle.

WHAT IS HARDSUB? WHAT IS SOFTSUB? WHAT IS RAW? HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?
Hardsub = a video file that has the subtitles "glued" permanently to the video. When you play such a video, you will automatically see subtitles.
Softsubs = a text document. It is just words and nothing else. Before you can even use the softsubs, you must get the raw.
Raw = original video with no subtitles at all.
HOW TO USE SOFTSUBS WHEN (1) I AM NOT AROUND TO MAKE HARDSUBS, (2) NO ONE WANTS TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR YOU, (3) NO ONE WANTS TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR EA
The explanation for this will be long and it will assume you know nothing. Read carefully, use your eyes and your brains.
A) You must have the RAW and the softsubs.
B) Raw files are UNSUBBED files, i.e. they have ZERO words in English. All words on the screen ARE IN JAPANESE. All sounds are IN JAPANESE. They are called “raw” because they are like uncooked food and are in a “what you see is what you get” form. Don’t understand me? Let me explain. Pretend you like to eat steak. But all you have is a piece of meat from the butcher. That meat is uncooked; it is raw. That is what I mean with “what you see is what you get”. The butcher will only give you an uncooked (i.e. raw) slab of meat. It is up to you to cook it to make it look, feel and taste like steak.
C) To use softsubs, you MUST download the raw.
D) To get the raw, you must get it from a community that shares the raw files. I will call them "raw comm" to make it easier for me.
E) These communities are member-locked and have joining procedures. It is ON YOU TO MAKE THE EFFORT to find these raw comms and DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to join them.
F) Once you become a raw comm member, it is ON YOU to search that comm for the raw file you want.
G) If you download the softsubs, you MUST have the correct version of the “raw” video before you can watch it.
H) Softsubs are just words in a notepad file. Softsubs are NOT video files. Softsub files typically have the file extensions as follows .ssa, .srt, .ass, .smi
I) Google "what is file extension", "how to see file extension on my computer" on your own to learn more about this.
J) Because SOFTSUBS are NOT video files, you MUST download the raw file on your own. When you have downloaded both the raw file AND the softsubs, you MUST combine them if you want to watch your videos with subtitles.
K) After you download the raw AND the softsubs, get VLC player and Media Player Classic (MPC). They are both free. Search for them on google, download them and install them. DO IT. These 2 players can play almost everything. Usually, if a file has subs and it does not show up in MPC, it will show up in VLC, and vice versa.
L) Now, get vobsub. Vobsub is the programme you will use to combine the raw video and softsubs. If you don’t have vobsub, search google for it. It is free.
M) Download and install VobSub. After downloading VobSub, double-click the .exe file and let it install. If there are instructions, follow them carefully. Once you have VobSub installed in your computer, you don't need to manually load vobsub each time you want to view soft subs. However, if you are using a different computer that does not have vobsub installed, you might have to install it there before you can watch the video.
N) Now, create a file folder on your desktop. After that, put BOTH the softsub file AND the raw file in this new folder you have just created.
O) Now, make sure BOTH the softsub file and the raw file have the same filename. This is very important. If the file names are different, your softsubs will not appear over the raw video.
P) In case, you don’t get it, here is an example. Pretend you have downloaded the raw video and softsubs. Pretend that you have put those files into the same new folder on your desktop.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO WHEN YOU ARE WAITING "FOREVER" FOR ME TO MAKE HARDSUBS FOR EA
- have patience
- accept the reality that you must wait because it will take me time.
- bookmark the EA post containing the file you file
- check the page you bookmarked every day until you see the hardsubs
- when you make the daily checks on the correct EA page, read ALL the comments until you see one made by me containing the hardsubs
- you have to do this because EA mod may not around for hours/days/weeks when my hardsubs are ready and she will not be able to put my links in her post.
- while waiting for my hardsubs, make sure you have HJSplit in your machine. it will save you time and trouble
- while waiting for my hardsubs, download newest winrar and install it. it will save you time and trouble.
WHY IT TAKES SO LONG FOR HARDSUBS TO BE MADE, A.K.A. THE HARDSUBBING PROCESS FROM MY POINT OF VIEW
There are many good reasons why you must be patient and wait for hardsubs:
- Real Life (RL) and work are more important than online stuff, fandom, hardsubbing. Because of that, RL and work take priority.
- Because RL and work take priority, I may not be online when there is a new EA release. Also, I may not be online when you are online and eager to download hardsubs.
- Next comes the preparation process. It's like cooking. You must have all your equipment and ingredients within easy reach, otherwise there will be chaos, mess and failure.
- I do this by checking that I have the latest versions of handbrake and avidemux installed. If they are outdated, I have to download and install the newest versions. After that, I have to make sure they are open and minimised, and ready for use at a moment's notice.
- When that's done, I must download the softsubs from EA and get the raw from the source. EA softsubs are small, so it takes about 2-10mins for download to complete. Raw files can be huge and sometimes can take between 2-26hrs for download to complete, depending on file size.
- When download completes, I must check the "before and after" file sizes to make sure my internet and computer didn't lie to me.
- If/when download of the raw completes, I need to make hardsubs. It takes time. It is not instant. Many people don't believe me, but encoding hardsubs can sometimes take a very long time. I use avidemix and it can take a long time, depending on file type, file size, file quality, audio resolution, audio type etc. Pass one can take up to 2 hours for me, and pass two can take even longer, sometimes up to 6-12 hours.
- If hardsub-making in avidemux fails (and I won't know until hours later when the process either times out or my computer says the process cocked up because avidemux can't handle the video), then I must convert the raw into a format that avidemux can accept and recognise. To do that, I must use handbrake. The conversion can take up to 24 hours.
- Once handbrake conversion is done, then only I can take this new raw and stick on the softsubs by using avidemux. Again, it can take 1-2 days for hardsub encoding to be done.
- When hardsub encoding is done, I need to check the file to make sure that (a) the hardsubs appear, (b) the file plays okay in VLC and MPC, (c) the video is clear enough and not grainy.
- When the checks are done, I have to zip it with winrar. It can take up to 10 mins to zip a file, depending on file size.
- When zipping is done, I have to upload it. My internet sucks, so it can take up to 26+ hours to upload a 100mb file.
- Because my 'net sucks, uploading can time out hours later. This means upload failed. When this happens, I must try again and again to upload, and hope that it won't time out and fail again.
- Uploading is done on 2 sites, ss and zippy. Imagine taking 26+ hours to upload to ss and hoping it will succeed. I have to spend another 26+ hours to upload to zippy.
- Then I must go to the correct EA post and make a comment there with my caveats and hardsub links. While making the comment, I must make sure that it is indeed posted. This is because my 'net sucks and sometimes can die in the middle of post-making and commenting. When this happens, I must try again and again until I succeed.
Do you now see what the process is like for me?
- The process of getting the raw and softsub to make hardsub is NOT instant. I don't snap my fingers and the files magically appear in my possession.
- The process of getting avidemux to "want" to "accept and recognise" the raw and softsubs for hardsub encoding is NOT instant. It is not something that is done in 1 second.
- The process of converting the raw into a version that avidemux can accept and recognise is NOT instant. It can't be done in 1 second.
- The process of encoding hardsubs when all is well with the raw and softsubs is NOT instant. It is not done in the time it takes me to pee, as someone once suggested in a PM years ago when they pestered me for hardsub.
- The process of zipping the file for upload is NOT instant.
- The process of uploading the file to whatever site is NOT instant. Go ask people with good internet how long it takes to upload to Mega, and they will tell you that it takes MORE THAN 1 SECOND.
Even cup/bowl/pot noodles are not instant. After you put in hot water, you have to wait 3-4 mins before it can be eaten. Even then, it'll be too hot and you'd burn your tongue, so you must wait a little longer before eating anyway. So please understand that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS INSTANT GRATIFICATION IN REAL LIFE.
WHY YOU CANNOT UNZIP THE WINRAR FILE + WHY YOU GET DIFFERENT ERROR MESSAGES WHEN YOU TRY TO UNZIP WINRAR FILES + WHY YOU FAIL TO UNZIP THE WINRAR FILE
I must say this AGAIN because people did not read anything in this and still ask me, "Why the file can't be unzipped", "How to unzip the file", "Why I get error messages when I unzip", "This post is TLDR, just tell me how to unzip", "Can you unzip the file for me because I cannot do it myself".
- When you cannot unzip a winrar file, this may be due to two reasons: (1) you used older winrar versions to unzip a file that has been zipped with newest winrar, (2) the file is incomplete.
- Condition (1) can only be remedied by getting newest winrar, installing it and then using it to unzip the file.
- Condition (2) occurs when you do NOT check file size before and after downloading. Sometimes your internet can die for a few seconds or more in the middle of downloading. This happens so quickly that you won't even notice that you have been disconnected for a few seconds and then reconnected again. When this happens, your machine will tell you that download has completed when it is most certainly untrue. When you try to unzip a file like that, of course you will fail. Don't trust your computer. Thus, you should (i) check file size before downloading and write down that number you see on the site, (ii) check the file size after download has completed, (iii) compare these numbers to make sure they are the same.
HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEM 1, AKA PROBLEM WITH WINRAR NOT WORKING
- why you can't unzip.
- you are using old winrar.
- i am using newest winrar, and that's what i used to zip the file.
- when file is zipped with new winrar, it cannot be unzipped with old winrar. attempts to do this by force will fail and you will get error messages.
- precise nature of message differs according to yr machine, location etc.
- to remedy this, you need to google winrar, download the newest version is right for your machine, install it etc.
- after doing all that, use new winrar to unzip the file.
HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEM 2, AKA FILE SIZE PROBLEM
- why you can't unzip.
- you put too much trust in your internet and computer, and not enough effort into your observational skills.
- i'm sorry if this offends you, and/or if you find what i am about to say offensive and/or troublesome, but this has to be done.
- Sometimes your computer or internet can die for a few seconds before coming back. this happens so quickly that you won't even notice. when this happens, your machine will say download finished correctly when this is false.
- e.g., you want to download a 100mb file, but your computer or internet says that the download is complete at 70mb becos your net died and then came back in the blink of an eye. the end result is that you have a file less than 100mb in size. This means your file is of an incomplete size. when that happens, no matter how you unzip the files, you will be doomed to failure. this is because your computer is trying to unzip an incomplete file. Because it cannot unzip an incomplete file, the task will fail. you will get error messages.
- to solve this, you will need to NEVER trust your machine and internet, and ALWAYS use your observational skills by doing this:
a) go to ss/zippy and look for the file size. write it down and put it somewhere where you can see. i will call the file size written there X
b) download the file and wait for download to finish
c) when download finishes, go to the part of your machine containing the file.
d) in windows 10, put your mouse arrow on the file. click once to select the file. now right click on the mouse and choose properties so that you can see the file's properties.
e) under the general tab, look for "size". read what it says there. I will call the file size written here Y
f) are X and Y exactly the same?
g) if yes, good. now, unzip with NEWEST winrar and you will succeed in unzipping the file
h) if no, it means your internet and/or machine cocked up. don't believe me? try unzipping and see what happens. you will fail. why did you fail? this is because your internet died and came back, and your machine didn't even register it.
i) when this happens, you have to start from the download stage again.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU PLAY A HARDSUBBED FILE AND YOU DO NOT SEE ANY ENGLISH SUBTITLES AT ALL
Sometimes, you play a hardsub video and no subtitles show up, i.e. you watch the vid and you only hear Japanese audio and only see Japanese words on the screen. This happens because your machines does not have the right tools to "force" the subtitles to show themselves. In more technical terms, you will need the right codec that matches the encoding method, i.e. the correct codec will unlock and play the hardsub encoded in a certain way. Simply put, a VHS tape can only be played in a VCR. Google "VHS tape" and VCR if you do not know what they are. You cannot play a VHS tape in your computer. You cannot use a CD player, DVD player, Blu-ray player, Laser disc player to play your VHS tape. You MUST use a VCR to play the VHS tape. What can you do if EA mod and I tell you that a file is 100% hardsubbed but you do not see any English subtitles on playing the vid? The answer is simple:
- Get media player class (MPC). It is free and it plays almost anything.
- Go to https://www.free-codecs.com/download/media_player_classic_home_cinema.htm and look at the right side of the page for the words "download". click it
- You will now be taken to a new page. Download the file and install it.
- Always go back to the source site to download new updated versions. I do this once a month because the process is not automatic.
- You have to always get the newest updated versions because the latest ones have the newest codecs that can play almost anything.
- Get Video Lan Client (VLC) player. It is free and it plays almost anything.
- Go to https://www.free-codecs.com/download/vlc_media_player.htm
and look at the right side of the page for the words "download". click it
- You will now be taken to a new page. Download the file and install it.
- Always go back to the source site to download new updated versions. I do this once a month because the process is not automatic.
- You have to always get the newest updated versions because the latest ones have the newest codecs that can play almost anything.
- You will NEED BOTH MPC AND VLC. Make sure you get them both. Do it.
- The reason you need both is because sometimes the subtitles in a hardsub vid will ONLY show up when you play it in MPC. This means when you try to play such a hardsub vid on any other programme, you will see NO subtitles at all.
- The reason you need both is because sometimes the subtitles in a hardsub vid will ONLY show up when you play it in VLC. This means when you try to play such a hardsub vid on any other programme, you will see NO subtitles at all.
- The idea is ALWAYS to try playing the hardsub vid on MPC first. If the hardsubs don't show up, then try playing the same vid in VLC.
In short, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD IN YOUR DOWNLOADING LIFE + YOUR SUBBED VIDEO WATCHING LIFE
a) always download and install newest winrar every month. no machine in the world does this automatically. it's up to you to do this. this is important for the health of your machine. winrar is free, just google it. if this is troublesome for you and you keep clinging to your old winrar, then you will be plagued by the problem of failing to unzip stuff 9/10 times.
b) always check file size before and after download by comparing the numbers. if this is too troublesome for you, then it means you will probably encounter this "failing to unzip" problem with other files from other places in the future too.
c) make sure you already have HJSplit installed in your machine.
d) always download and install newest MPC every month. no machine in the world does this automatically. it's up to you to do this.
e) download and install newest VLC every month. no machine in the world does this automatically. it's up to you to do this.
