Jour 213 : Mon premier couvre-feu

Oct 17, 2020 22:16

In my last mail to starwatcher307 I mentioned what a quiet and chill weekend I had ahead of me and how I would finally be able to rest and have more energy and, with some luck, write some more of my fic.

Fast-forward to this morning when both Cookie and I were up before 8.00 AM and decided it was the perfect time - that is, after we had our breakfast - to paint the office/spare room. The walls were (finally) ready to be painted and we were up early so why not start now? So we prepped the room and then proceeded to do the first coat. Then it was time to have lunch and finally to head to my mother-in-law's. We got back around 8.00 PM. In case you were wondering: no chilling happened today nor did any writing ;)

Then again, I'm going to have a lot of time in the evening, as it turns out. What do you know, I'm living my very first curfew tonight! 2020 is...well. How to even describe it, right?

For the next six weeks, I have to be home at 9.00 PM, which means that, because I live in the suburb I have to be on my way home around 8.00 PM. Basically, I go to work then I go home. Fun times! Ironically, I'd just had my first German class of the year the day before they announced the curfew. I don't think there's an exception for people who are taking evening classes so... Don't get me wrong, I'm all for strict measures, anything that can help. I'm also tired of it all.

Anyway. It is what it is. Guess we'll be home early and will have all the time in the world to do all the indoorsy things we seem to never be able to do because we're Out There Enjoying Social Life. Also, I haven't heard a single car in the street since 21h struck so it's already much quieter than usual. Same thing with the guys that are usually drinking their beers just outside the building up till Very Late... our neighbourhood is never silent, is the thing, but if we gain a bit of quiet during the next six weeks, well, I'll take it. Silver lining and all that.

On the fannish side of things. Tv-wise, October is such a good month! Cookie and I watched - and enjoyed! - all of The Haunting of Bly Manor! Admittedly, The Haunting of Hill House remains my favourite of the two but that new season was brilliant and moving as well (I loved how different it was from Hill House - I thought it was cleverly done). The new season of ST: Discovery has been released, a new season of Dix pour Cent is arriving. The download for the Helmstrom pilot should up soon. Oh, and I'm quite curious about Alguien Tiene que Morir so I'll be watching that too.

And Prodigal Son fans, did you see, they've started shooting season 2! Finally! That was a lovely surprise :)

As for fanfic. I'm still getting my fill of TOG fic pretty much every day. Ok, ok, absolutely evey day ;) What can I say, it's my happy place at the moment ♥ I've also revisited The Musketeers fic. It'd been a while since I read that fandom but I was going through the works of a TOG author whose fic I'd quite enjoyed and realised she'd written a bunch of Musketeers fic that most definitely catered to my tastes. Revisiting older fandoms is such a pleasant experience :)

Hope you're all doing good, flist. Take care ♥  This entry was originally posted at https://castalie.dreamwidth.org/532812.html.
