Today there was a lunar eclipse and I missed it. I'm a little sad. I learned though, way back when I was on a 'cool things that are happening in the sky' email list, that if you tried to see every important astronomical event, you'd never have a life. I have, however, met an astronaut, completing one of my childhood goals. (I also wanted to be an astronaut, but then I figured out that I sometimes got carsick, and swiftly abandoned that dream.)
Also today, sometime before the lunar eclipse but after my french toast, I had a conversation where a friend told me that they could have (realistically) gone to the Olympics. Besides being an astronaut, I also wanted to be an Olympian. The ironic part about this is that I never really liked sports all that much and definitely lacked any skills. However, I most certainly wanted to be on that podium.
Finally, though this actually occurred on Tuesday, I met a magazine editor. That profession is less of a childhood job and more of a late adolescent career consideration.
This is why you should always talk to people who aren't talking to themselves, they might have something interesting to say.
I attended a speech about the coming primaries (they're only a year away) and then proceeded to start dating things 2008 by accident. Its bothering me a little. On the one hand, there is a significant amount of time before the primaries and its only now March, but on the other, its a wide open race. But seriously, my brain should be able to keep the year straight.
