It's kind of crap but sort of amusing (in my head, since I have an entire book plotted out from some drivel a randomly started to type out haha)
The multitude of plantains only was equal to the stars in her eyes as Cassie looked out upon the shoreline. The gulf coast stretched wide and clear that day. The day she decided to embark upon a new life. A new life with the Nyxi Militia.
This decision would impact the rest of her life, and most likely the lives of many others. The Nyxi Militia was no ordinary band of rogues, and Cassie knew exactly what she was getting into. However, she didn’t care; she wanted a life full of surprises, full of adventure, full of a...sense of dread? Well maybe Cassie had a little bit of doubt left.
I mean who wouldn’t? The Nyxi Militia wasn’t the safest of places, they were the ones most tasked with hunting the Beasts of the Deep, or Salivetums Ingredulas if you prefer the technical name. Most people called them Deeps for short. This is no easy task as the Deeps are notoriously dangerous, and a threat to mankind. Cassie knew all this though, and she was sure she was ready to help in the fight.
Cassie had a few cards up her sleeve though; she wasn’t going to be an ordinary grunt in the Nyxi collective. Oh no, she was going to be special. She had a great mind, she was in amazing shape (from working the plantain farm, and providing for her brothers and sisters). What was going to help her forge her own path was her ‘unique’ ability, an ability very few had.
You see Cassie could sense Deeps. She could tell when they were near, how far away they were, that sort of thing. It was a very rough ability, but she was sure she could hone it with time and practice. She could sense a Deep from up to a mile and a half away. Cassie had a very rare gift indeed. Most people could barely tell when a Deep was within a few feet of them, not that Deeps appeared that often (which most people were quite thankful they didn’t).
So that bright, crystalline day was the day that Cassie chose to set her path in motion. To set her foot on new soil and see things she’d never even dreamed of. “This is it!” she thought excitedly to herself as she walked back to her ramshackle home to gather her things. Now, how was she going to tell her family…?
In other news I have no computer access for a time. Also I am moving to Solomon Pond Mall Hot Topic next week to be full-time assistant manager there. I'm going to miss Auburn Mall a lot, I really love it there, but it's what needs to be done to further this career. Well at least I'll still be with Brooke I guess. I'm still worried though. I almost let emotions escape last night driving around. A few did but thankfully I beat them back. It was close.
