Brigid's Faire wrap-up

Feb 04, 2007 23:02

DAMN that was fun!  Exhausting, insane, hilarious, exhilirating, raucus and plenty of other adjectives both synonymous and not so much.  If you happened to make the show, thank you so much for coming out!  If you didn't, you missed some seriously cool music.  No worries, though--we're going to do it all again next year ;)

I'm exhausted, so I'm not going to recap all the acts.  I'm going to hit some fun highlights instead.  For example, during Lauren Kendall's set, Blake, her percussionist and other half told a joke.  'How many members of Cassandra Syndrome does it take to screw in a lightbulb?'  The answer?  'Irene to tell BJ to do it and the rest of the band to make jokes about screwing.'

Yeah, I laughed, too...

Our set went really well--the energy was high, we were having a great time.
ckackley did a simply fantastic job despite a minor trial-by-fire during 'Scream.'  I was wearing these fantastic boots, you see.  They make me about 6 feet tall (I'm only 5'7").  They have a big, clunky heel.  And I sort of stepped backwards and accidentally stepped on one of the connectors to his pedal, which promptly came unplugged.  Right before his lead ride.  Yeah, I'm smooth....  The band recovered well, though, and once we figured out what my complete lack of coordination had wrought, everything went fine.  And Chris wayyyy rocked the house.  I just hope he forgives me for being clumsy ;)  The audience was just awesome--no other word for it.  It was so wonderful to see so many people I adore all in one place, having a blast!  Special thanks to
ncalrod,
fala_ten and
emcic for their photographic wizardry.  Very, very special thanks to
steph_carlyle for videotaping the show and to Keith from the Dreamscapes project for recording our audio.  With any luck, we'll have a live video on the webpage for you guys soon :)  Photos from the show are up, click the picture below to go visit them.

The night ended on an extraordinarly amusing note as well.  The Dreamscapes Project is one of our favorite bands--awesome energy, fantastic sound and the guys are simply hilarious.  They closed their set with a medley of All Along the Watchtower, Don't Fear the Reaper and Save Tonight.  One of their percussionists did the best cowbell solo I've ever seen during the Don't Fear the Reaper section.  I think I almost cried I was laughing so hard.  The funniest part was yet to come, though.  At the very end of the song, all of the sudden I realized that the lyrics Keith was singing were very familiar...they were the lyrics to Wild.  Definitely a nice joke on the whole band, we were dying with laughter.  My face hurt by the time they got off the stage.  Man, I love those guys...

Today was kind of a wash.  Brigid's Faire is awesome, but it definitely takes it out of you.  At least we got the photos up and edited :)  Hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful week :)
