point.

although i think if youre interested in buddhism, the book youre reading isnt the best source. it seems somewhat vague and pessimistic. true desires--i want to write, i want to travel, i want to fall in love and experience emotions with people, i want everything good and not tainted by banality of modern life-- to deny those is to deny ourselves. i like the theory of existentialism, the theory that we all have free will to craft our lives as we see fit. that in mind, one meaning of life for me is to do exactly what makes you happy, or follow true desires. the desires which i suspect your book is speaknig of are material desires, desires which hinder, wanting objects and luxuries. some sects of buddhist monks become vagabonds, give up worldly constraints and wander the earth for the other worldly experiences. they come to reach satori, otherwise enlightenment. not only that, but you cannot desire enlightenment, its a spontaneous and independent event. to strive for enlightenment is a desire itself and can hinder the ( ... )

Well just like you can't desire enlightenment you can't really push yourself toward creativity you have to so inspired you can't put your pen down.
