Domestic Goddess, oh yes

Last week, I made cupcakes for our babywarming. I now think I may be addicted to making cupcakes as I have been planning more in my head ever since. The white ones are vanilla, for the kids. Many of them have dinosaurs on them. The purple ones are violet-flavoured. (for Jemima Violet, only not actually FOR her because she is a baby) Mmmmmm.

Today, I went one step further in the name of domestic goddessitude. I made a costume. Apart from the occasional paper crown, my mothering career has been free of homemade costumes thus far, because Raeli always wants to go as a fairy, a princess or a mermaid and she has the elements for those already in her dress up box.

Wait, I tell a lie, I once tacked an Incredibles logo to a red skivvy for her superhero costume, but that was mostly the brainchild of my honey...

*cough*

This year, godiyeva's eldest is having an Asterix party for his 6th birthday and of course I thought I have to dress Raeli up as Cleopatra. As you do. I even came up with in my head the perfect simple way to make her such a costume. I had been thinking about it for weeks, and given that I don't own or use a sewing machine, I figured I'd better work on it all this week.

The party is tomorrow. I started working on this about 4 hours ago.

Cardboard snake crown made by my honey. Padded collar with attached fake-dress by meeeee. She could wear it over jeans for a practical party outfit but of course this is Raeli so she will wear it over a party dress...

(Emma, thanks for the loan of the black wig but sadly she refused to wear it)

craft, domesticity, food, raeli
