So
chomaisky drew this
horned-god!Sam portait for the
wedraweveryday comm.
I was tired when I first saw this piece last night, but it pinged something in me despite the exhaustion. Revisiting it after a few hours of sleep (and with a working brain this time), I'm struck by the ferocious and visceral beauty of the piece. On the surface, the art is stunning and unsettling. Dig a little deeper, and the piece is revealed as visual storytelling at its finest. Between the lethal horns, Sam's savage-but-thoughtful expression (deciding who to take as "tribute"?), and the "kneel-before-me!" body language, I suspect that this god!Sam is a primitive and fierce dark god. Very dark indeed. Me likey.
And OMG, do I love how she drew those horns! Twisty and pointy and dangerous, yet so organic and graceful. The piece is digital, but those spiraling, gorgeous things could've been drawn on bristol board with India ink and a paintbrush. Magnificent art -- I cannot stop looking at it.
Cho calls it "weird." I call it fantastic. :) I repeat. I LOVE this piece!
GO.
See for yourselves. Leave Cho some love and maybe she'll draw more pagan-god!Sam. *hopes*
