RANT! *Added to it*

I don't get what's up with the Justice Department. I understand the whole Terrorist thing, but they're making very serious accusations about people who should never be considered a terrorist. And even then, they're taking it WAY farther. It seems that if you are an immigrant you are not safe in this country anymore and I find that very sad. Since our country is made of people who have come seeking a better life. That's the whole point of America! And I'm proud of the fact that my country takes in people that have no where to go, or that want a better life. Go America!

A Man in CT who is Italian, and has been living in CT for something like 40 years, just went on a Vacation to Italy. When he returned, he was arrested as a criminal, and accused of terrorist actions. In 1985, this man served 4 months in jail for drugs. Since then, he's gotten married, had something like 4 children. He's a soccer Dad. He has a job, a good life and has been paying taxes in America since arriving. And yet, because he went to jail in 1985, and is an immigrant, the Justice Department tossed him in jail for som 10 months or so, until a Judge who's head was actually on straight, said he has done nothing wrong, and let him out. Now the Justice Department is thinking of appealing.

This isn't the only story that has happened like this. College students are turned away at airports because their names are on the no fly list. The reason the government gives? Because their names MIGHT be similar to someone's name who MIGHT be a terrorist.

All I have to say to this type of thing is: WTF!?

First off, I'd like to say that I support the troops who are over seas fighting for their lives. I do *not*, however, support the fact they're over there. I think the way it was done was completely messed up and cost more lives than it should have.

1) Inside the United States, where the war began

It didn't start in America. Ppl have been blowing up buildings and killing people all over the world LONG time before they hit America. It was just a matter of time before someone found a way to hit the US hard.

2) we must continue to give homeland security and law enforcement personnel every tool they need to defend us. And one of those essential tools is the Patriot Act, which allows federal law enforcement to better share information, to track terrorists, to disrupt their cells, and to seize their assets.

Who desideds who's a terrorist?! From what's been on the news latly, people have been wrongly accused. Not just a few either. College students have been told they can't go home for the holiday because their name got on a list in the Government saying they can't fly. There has been reports that ppl carrying Farmers Almanacs might be terrorists because it tells lots of stuff about the US. They could use it as a guide to find a weakness or a way to do major damage to the US. Alright, So, yes maybe that would be a way, does that mean everyone walking around with one is a terrorist? NO! It doesn't! My God parents have been buying those books for years! Who desides who should have their assets taken, or their cell phones turned off, or their house phones bugged? These are very serious accusations that people are making about anyone who looks not how the people in charge think an upstanding US citizan should look. Well, since America is made up of a HUGE amount of people from everywhere, who's to say what the standard American looks like?

3) The work of building a new Iraq is hard, and it is right. And America has always been willing to do what it takes for what is right

Well... not always, But yeah okay. I agree we now that we took their government away, we best be helping to rebuild. But when they get a new government and the US leaves, what will happen? That's my only concern.

4) already the Kay Report identified dozens of weapons of mass destruction-related programme activities and significant amounts of equipment that Iraq concealed from the United Nations.

Did I miss something? Is he living in another world than me? I don't remember any weapons being found...

5) For all who love freedom and peace, the world without Saddam Hussein's regime is a better and safer place.

Yep! I'd have to agree with him there.

6) As we debate at home, we must never ignore the vital contributions of our international partners, or dismiss their sacrifices

Again, I'd have to agree. Still don't think things were handled right, but I do have to agree that we need to recognize anyone and everyone who's been apart of the war.

7) As long as the Middle East remains a place of tyranny, despair, and anger, it will continue to produce men and movements that threaten the safety of America and our friends. So America is pursuing a forward strategy of freedom in the greater Middle East.

This is how he justicfies invading another country. So, is this going to be how he uses the system to get what he wants?

8) America acts in this cause with friends and allies at our side, yet we understand our special calling: This great Republic will lead the cause of freedom.

This gives me the feeling that he likes the idea of power. That... is kindda scary. This statement to me says "WE ARE THE BEST AND WE WILL DOMINATE OVER ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE!!!!" I don't think so, thank you very much.

This was pretty much my take on the whole terrorist thing. I did agree a lot of what the prez said about Education. If you want to read what he said, go here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3415361.stm
