Holy shit.
In a bag in my mother's closet, she found photographs of our family. Some of the ones that are dated range from the 50s and 60s to 1929. There are also some cabinet cards without dates, Victorian or close to it, including a beautiful wedding portrait and one that is labled as being "Gerald's grandparents" - lived from the 1860s-1930s/40s according to the family tree.  They're one of the branches we can trace back the furthest.
Had to share that.
This came as I was finally going through the yarn
ardent_firesong gave me from her grandmother's stash.  Due to the rain and my fear of flooding, it stayed in the car for a while so it'd be safe. (Once lost a good bit of yarn a few years ago because the water was high enough to tip over the container.)  Not only is the yarn amazing, but it smells like old people in that really comforting way; not like a nursing home, but like a grandmother's house.  Which is appropriate.
And of course...this is all near Samhain.  I love how things all go click like that.
