She's going the distance...

As if I never quit, I started back into training a little over a week ago. This time around my plan is a but more detailed than "run until you puke" everyday. I'm following a plan that was printed in Competitor magazine back in March. The gradual increase in mileage with every fourth week used as a slow down is basically what I was going for when I was training without a guide. However, this regimen calls for me to cross train for sprints & hills as well as training my endurance. It is an interesting and fun routine that I think I will enjoy over the next 13 weeks.

I've been keeping a journal of each day's workout to not only track my progress and keep myself honest but also to track my health and well being during each training session. My main focus is to treat my body well and stay healthy. If that means pushing myself smarter instead of harder then I will.

As far as the race goes, I would like to shave 10% off my last finish time. That means I have to knock off fifteen minutes. Deep down I know it is possible, but I'm really going to have to work for it. The work doesn't scare me. In fact, I look forward to my workouts everyday. Racing is in my blood, running is the only thing that can really calm my mind. My only regret is that I didn't find it sooner.
