What is there to say about Cassidy Haley? Could we talk about his model good looks? Or his husky-raw lullaby-like singing voice? We could touch on his charming, sweet personality.
Or how about his strive to never let anything, anything, get in the way of what he wants to do. Out of all the unsigned artists I’ve followed, Cassidy Haley comes in first in all the categories. I was lucky enough to be granted a 20 minute phone interview with the budding young star, where we talked about everything from his music to his participation in the World Trade Organization protests to his philosophies on life. We loved Cassidy for his music, but now we love him for so much more.
Cassidy’s been pretty busy lately, whether it be recording an acoustic album, playing at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, or just going home to the Bay Area to spend Thanksgiving with his family. He was born and raised in the East Bay to a lesbian mothers and met his gay father when he was a teenager. During high school, he was a part of the rave scene, and a big fan of rave music. Though, it wasn’t until he failed all his classes at junior college except for his electronic music and weightlifting classes, that he realized he really wanted to pursue music. Now you can tune into his virtual live concerts on Ustream, or buy his album Little Boys and Dinosaurs, which reached #3 on the electronic chart, on iTunes. You also may have seen clothes from his clothing company, SkinGraft on celebrities such as Rihanna, David Cook, Fergie, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Tila Tequila, and others. Though he’s not working with SkinGraft anymore, he still remains in close contact with his friends there. Being such a successful artist, I was surprised at how kind and down to earth he was on the phone and in person. We even got pictures with him at a special meet and greet for him in San Francisco.
