So we've been in England for two weeks already, and it's just a little unbelievable! London for 9 days was fun, though maybe 9 days was overdoing it a bit! We slept quite a bit, as well as seeing anything and everything we could afford. My favourite parts were New Years Eve when we wandered the streets of London with what seemed like everyone else in London!! The underground was free until 4:30 that morning, so of course we stayed out until around then! I also really enjoyed the Tower, the Tate Modern, and the Sunday market Kaity and Tash took us to! We also went to an evensong service at St.Paul's Cathedral which was absolutely breathtaking. The sounds of hymns bouncing off the amazing frescoed ceilings, along with organ music is unearthly.
After that we headed South, to Jenna's Great Aunt and Uncle's house in the village of Buxted. It was nice to sleep in a real bed, and take a real shower! Jenna's relatives were amazingly accomadating, cooking us meals, and then her cousin Thomas took us to Brighton for the day, which was awesome! We saw the Royal Pavilion, and the pier, and then he took us to Beachy Head, a giant cliff right on the coast which according to him you can see France from on a clear day!
Next we headed North up to Bath for three nights. That's where we are now, and Bath is amazing! It's one of the most beautiful towns I've ever seen, with all sorts of original, stone buildings. The Bath abbey has these amazing glass windows that apparently were blown out during World War II and a Canadian soldier picked up some of the glass and it's now in the Toronto cathedral which is neat, though they really can't prove it. We also went to Stonehenge today, with a tour that was part of our hostel package. That was cool. They just look like giant rocks, impressive but not amazing, but they give you these audio tours that tell you all these facts and history that just make it that much more interesting. Apparently 1/3 of the stones is actually underground!
Next we're heading up to Clitheroe, North of here, to visit some of Jordan's friends. Maybe take a day trip to Liverpool. After that it's Scotland!
