Baby Wildlife Critter Photos!

May 26, 2009 20:25

I just got back a couple of days ago from the wildlife rescue facility where I periodically housesit so I have tons of pictures that I just had to share.

****WARNING: Anyone suffering from a heart condition, seizures, high blood pressure, is pregnant or might become pregnant should not read any further, as people have died from cuteness overload. Emily and the wildlife rescue facility cannot be held responsible for reckless viewing and the resulting cuteness-related injury or illness.****

Where to start, where to start... I guess with Bob, the baby Bobcat, prowling in the trees...:

...and then pretending like he *totally wasn't* all up in my food after I fussed at him...:

...and then taking a well-earned nap after all his hard work:

The Blackbuck Antelope was shamelessly stealing bottles out of the bucket:

This FICU fawn, called "Moo" because the people who found her fed her cow's milk for four days before bringing her to the rescue (FYI, *don't ever do that* if you find an orphaned fawn!), had to come inside so I could place a new IV catheter and give her some meds and fluids and do some "fawn yoga" with her to increase her gut motility. But even while very sick, she still was pulling off some super-cute model poses:

And she has the bluest eyes I've ever seen on a deer--hence her nickname, Mooie Blue Eyes:

And the teeny tiniest fawn I've ever seen, not much bigger than my hand:

And finally, the resident Coatimundi, Niko:

Who looks extra cute when she begs:

She knows I'm a sucker and can't resist letting her out to play!

Those are the little animals I've been staying with! They had a couple of baby owls out there, too, but sent them over to the raptor specialist before I got there. Sadface. I love owls.

You know, looking at these photos reminds me that I've actually lived a pretty interesting life.  Yes, I may be poor and I may be in debt, but I've also road tripped all over the continent and worked with hundreds of musicians and studied a dozen languages and trained dogs and horses and parrots and played with baby wildlife critters, many of which most people will never even get to see in real life...  Yeah, I wouldn't trade all the high-paying jobs in the world for my experiences.  My life is pretty alright.

animals, wildlife, random musings, yay
