I said I wouldn't, but I'm going to.

This is almost for my own benefit and no one else's, but I thought I should document another huge step that Cah'ya has made in her journey towards becoming a socialized, well-adjusted bird.  Yesterday, when she turned 6 months old, she took food from me while we looked at each other; she gently explored my fingers without fear or aggression; she came to me and stepped up on my hand when she was on the floor; she didn't growl while I cleaned her cage; she let me approach her with the towel without running away or getting nervous.  And probably the most encouraging sign of all is that I tried to take a picture of her on my phone.  When I first held it up to her, she put on her bitch fluff and started growling.  At first she ran away from it, and then, when she realized it wasn't pursuing her, she came after it.  But then I took pictures of Bayu and he didn't care, and she watched carefully as I took a few pictures and laughed at his silliness.  When I went back to take more pictures of her, she was totally calm.  I even put the camera above her head to take pictures of the scalloped feathers up there, and she was still totally fearless.  That she adjusted to such a strange object so quickly is enormously encouraging to me.  There is hope for her yet!

cah'ya, yay, pets
