I fixed it (ish) but everytime I edited the cut in the html and then looked at it on the rich text editor frame IT ALTERED THE CUT. It would move the cut so that it didn't cover any of the icons or alter what the cut text was. It even altered the html of one of the icon image links so that the image wouldn't render!! GRRRRR.....
Ergo...I have given up and will let the frakking thing just read as "Read more..." even though it makes me want to punch things....
I use Semagic, but I'm pretty sure there are others as well... Semagic never messes up my posts though. And you can preview the lj-cut text instead of just what's underneath the cut.
