a late dinner with the boyfriend on Sunday turned out so so so so awesome, i really have to blog about it so that i will always remember i had an awesome dinner at least once. we didn't intend for it to be a late dinner. neither did we intend to dine there. but somehow, one way or another, it just played out to be this way? we actually intended to have dimsum dinner because we couldn't have it the night before. turns out, our favourite night time dimsum place wasn't open that day :( so we had to make alternative plans and decided on marina square. we walked around for 30 mins and still couldn't find any decent place to dine at. so i suggested heading to Millenia Walk, where the fanboy's idol previously dined at. BUT, the place has been replaced by another restaurant and so we headed to the directory and there we spotted, MA MAISON.
in my impression, Ma Maison has always been this very atas place where common folks like us don't get to dine at. i imagined them to charge exorbitant prices and serve exquisite food. thus, i was totally reluctant but still agreed to go with the boyfriend. before entering, we browsed through their menu and realised that the prices were really reasonable and taadah, we decided to dine there. initially, we waited quite awhile before entering even though it was almost 8 pm and there was no crowd. and i remember saying "they don't want to do our business luh" when the boyfriend was walking in and was "hello hello"-ing in a totally ah-pek style. a waitress spotted us shortly and even apologised for the long wait. so sweet of her!
the moment we entered, everything changed. the service was really impressive. having been served at various japanese restaurants where the servers shout "welcome" in their totally unenthusiastic tone, the servers in this restaurant really said it with enthusiasm. and this was the first time we didn't have any problems understanding the servers even though they're not locals. and this is really what service should be like in Singapore. so rare and so difficult to encounter such good service staff. thank you for serving us so nicely!
what i really liked about the restaurant was that it wasn't very big, and it was very well decorated. ambience was really really really nice to dine in with your loved ones. but not a place to hold gatherings, imo. it would feel too atas to dine with 7 other people there. hahaha! and sadly, the photos on my phone didn't turn out too well so i shan't post them.
and they not only serve us wet tissue.
they served us serviette too. really like it when restaurants serve both options and we get to choose which one to use.
how nice of them :)
our Japanese spaghetti and Ma hamburger steak which arrived very quickly. probably cos it wasn't peak hour but still, 90% of the tables were filled so it really was fast.
and the best part of the night.. after we finished our meal, we decided to hang around for dessert after noticing their display shelf. our assumption was that they would take the tart we wanted straight from the display shelf and serve immediately. but no, they took the entire tray of tarts and disappeared behind the counter. it took probably 5 minutes? and the hungry boyfriend started whining about how simple it was to serve a fruit tart until this arrived. totally speechless luh. it's just a fruit tart but they made the effort to decorate it till it was this pretty. *heart melts*
and this was our pretty key so we need not disturb the servers to ask for the bill. just bring this to the counter to make our payment. very smart of them lo! and it was really pretty. like a key to a room in a castle!
to end our beautiful dinner date, i decided to use mtxx to decorate our photo. our satisfied faces in front of a very lovely restaurant. i actually asked a little boy to take a photo of us but he ignored me. then again, he's too short so nvm, i take it by myself *flip hair*
and lastly, a beautiful sunflower i received from the self-proclaimed best boyfriend.
