DADDY'S HOME!

Dec 26, 2004 12:44

Okay, probably the most important thing over this break is very obviously mentioned in my subject line! Dad flew in on the 23rd and it was so great to see him. We caught up and went out to eat at Eddies (hahaha, good times there with Brandon and TJ) and discussed how that indian tribe bought the Downs. The next day got even better, dad and I were bouncing off the walls...
My dad and Kelleigh and the kids show up just a half hour after I recieved a letter in the mail...
"Dear Cassandra: Congratulations, we would like to extend an invitation to join our campus community! After careful consideration, you have been selected for admission to Mansfield University!"
TALK ABOUT ONE KICKASS CHRISTMAS PRESENT! Dad was thrilled, and according to Kelleigh, as soon I walked into the house, my dad started jumping up and down going "yes, yes, yes!" Okay, he was REALLY FREAKIN' HAPPY!
Oh it was a beautiful thing. We hit Bed Bath and Beyond, Best Buy and finished up our shopping before trekking over to Chili's for lunch... yummy Old Timer burger *drool*
When we got everyone around in the living room, we all exchanged 1 gift... my kickass new guitar amp!!! Dad's old football jersey, a ton of jewelery for Gaga and Aunt Brenda, and the best part of all... PopPop's 2 gift certificates totalling $1000 dollars so he could finally purchase his Dress Uniform. He nearly had a heart attack when he opened it I swear. We stuffed a bunch of papers in a box all from Marinestore.com including the 2 gift certificates. It didn't hit him at first on what he was getting, when he read the amounts on the certificates, and I showed him the top sheet which was a picture of the uniform, I was convinced he was going to have a heart attack. He let out this huge gasp and if I hadn't known any better, he was trying to fight back tears. Katherine and William LOVED their blankets. It was such a meaningful evening. All the really really sentimental gifts were given that night (1 per person!)
Finally my favorite part of Christmas rolled around... okay my 2nd favorite aside from presents... DINNER! This year was probably the best Christmas Eve dinner I have EVER had! The fish, even though a little bit dry, was cooked to perfection, unleven bread (again!!), shrooms, lima beans, taters, peas, saurkraut, and perogies just completely made my night.
After running into Gerard and Jagzy at midnight mass, Katherine, William, and I all crashed in my room, we were so tired. Finally, waking up at 9 AM, we all walked into the living room, letting out an "oh my god" as soon as we did... the floor was covered with gifts... you could barely make your way through the living room without tripping over a gift bag or box of some sort.
Gifts were as follows:
Mansfield Acceptance Letter
Guitar Amp
Microphone and Stand
Guitar Stand
5 CD Stereo
She Beads Cross
4 New Pairs of PJ's... yes, FOUR
Hoodie (red)
That's basically it...
Going to see POTO today, I'll let you know how it was!
Merry Christmahanukkwanaramsmas everyone!
Cass
