Doctor Who: spoiler-free meta-theorycraft

Jul 22, 2012 21:44

So etcet and I just watched the entire last season of Doctor Who in a single weekend, which was deeply satisfying and made it far more comprehensible than when I originally saw the episodes roughly one per week with a two-month gap in the middle. The marathon was sparked in part by my getting caught up by a completely spoilerless "spoiler" officially ( Read more... )

The last Doctor Who thing I saw was "The Wedding of River Song" because my supplier of episodes became unreliable. Since the show is basically only watchable in its original BBC form, I ignore everything locally available as likely too butchered to bother with.

So, since I don't have prospects of getting access anytime soon, I'll promise not to read Doctor Who posts... or at least to not bitch if I do and you spoil something.

If you would care to have HD copies of episodes, I can make those readily available for you.

The original BBC versions? That would be, in a word, brilliant!

Excellent. Which series do you require first?

Apparently I need less than I thought.

The last thing I saw was "The Wedding of River Song". According to the wiki page, that means I've only missed:
- "Death Is the Only Answer"
- "Night and the Doctor"
- "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe"
- "Good as Gold"

Of course, I've got no reliable source for series 7 once it begins next month.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated and repaid with lunch (regrettably, getting to Seattle to claim it not included).

I will be in Seattle for GothCruise 10. This is where I put on my Hellraiser voice and say "Join us. We have SUCH sights to show you." :D

I believe I've got all those. I'll be double-checking my stocks. Some of that, being short stuff, will not be HD, but it will be complete.

I have no idea when that is. I tried Googling, but I got too many ambiguous results.

I'll pay up on the lunch, but I'm afraid I'll have to pass on the being tortured to death and converted into a bizarre monster. (I'm reminded of #7 from the Horror Movie Survival Guide: As a general rule, don't solve puzzles that open portals to Hell.)

Well, you don't get tortured to death and converted into a bizarre monster. Instead, you get fantastically drunk and then marinate in the hot tub with everyone, creating Goth Soup. See here for Gothcruise. Bit expensive, though.

All right. Downloads which will be issued to you via link to Mediafire this evening:

- "Death Is the Only Answer"
- "Night and the Doctor"
- "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe"
- "Good as Gold"
- "Pond Life"
- "Asylum Of The Daleks"

All in the best coding available - HD for the main episodes, definitely.

Given how many friends I have who want to watch Doctor Who without spoilers, and how careful I've historically tried to be about spoilers, I decided the best thing by far would be to open a new venue in which to do my spoiler-talk. Those discussions will now live at Spoilers, Sweetie!. I will keep doing my best to keep my LJ spoiler-free. But don't worry; if you've seen "The Wedding of River Song", that means you've only missed "The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe" -- the 2011 Christmas special -- and a couple of charity shorts ( ... )
