Woe is Nebraska. Third day of spring and covered in a foot of snow. 9.9 inches in Lincoln to be exact. Although some places around the city have more (like 14 inches) and some places have big huge drifts. Good news, though, they actually plowed on Tuesday morning and the streets are bare today.
Last week was spring break. Didn't do much. Worked for four days, cleaned my apartment, went to the mall, saw a movie with Amanda, volunteered, and ate lots of stuff not good for me (cookies, pizza, etc).
Now, its back to the daily grind. Just finishing up my last grant...last for awhile anyway. Then I have to review all the stuff I read on Monday for ecology.
Yes, they actually canceled the university on Monday and Tuesday. I was shocked and joyful. But, I am a dedicated grad student, so I still came in to do work on Tuesday. Not as dedicated as some people, though, Amanda braved the weather and came in every single day of the storm because she loves her crickets. I think her SUV helps; my little car was skidding all over the place when I had to go out Monday to evening to volunteer at the cat house. Brakes are bad on snowy, icy roads. The trick is to slow down by taking that foot off the accelerator about five miles before you need to stop. And if your vehicle loses control, go with it and slowly correct and hang on for dear life.
I'm back in my old, new office. Pretty swanky I must say. We have real cubicles and big desks. No more mish mosh and multicolored room dividers from the 60s (1860s that is).
That's about all that is happening. I'm currently muching on some grindage...a turkey sammich and an apple...I'd rather be having a nice slab of steak or pizza, pizza, pizza...
