It has always worked better when her mind had something to occupy it.  That way she didn’t have time to let her musings get hold.  Because when they do, the endless round of hopeless questions begins.  Did she try hard enough?  Could she have done more?  Why did she fail?  And it’s always failure, even when she’s had a good night and there are people who are alive to say thank you, or curse her existence.

There is always something that is left undone, something more that she needs to fulfill but can’t happen that night for any number of reasons.  Cass is beginning to understand Batman’s refusal to sleep.  So far, she hasn’t been able to convince her own body that it can do without for more than 60 hours at a time.  It really wasn’t fair.  She’s younger and should be able to do more.

She has to do more, there is no other option.  The question doesn’t matter, she will keep going because anything less is unworthy of the symbol she has adopted.

But what happens when she can’t do more?

The current Batgirl pushes that question as far from her conscious thoughts as she can and once more resumes flying over the roof tops.
