budgeting

A while back, one or more of you LJ-peeps said something about starting a budget. Well, with the new car and other expenses lately, it's about time I started budgeting a bit more carefully as well. I've tried using fancy programs like Quicken and the like in the past, but in general, they distract me too many unnecessary features and questions.

So, I created this simple Google Spreadsheet called Generic Budget. It's pretty basic. You keep track of your income and expenditures, and it keeps track of how much you're spending over or under budget on a monthly basis. Text color changes depending on whether you're over or under budget. The idea is that you have one master budget sheet and then you copy the monthly sheet each month to create a new month of financial tracking.

Anyway, I figured I'd throw it out here since it's so easy to publish things with Google Docs. I don't think you can just take the copy I have published, so if anyone wants access to it so as to make a copy of your own, just leave a comment here.

budget, money
