islamo-facism awareness week

Apparently, this was a Big Deal at some universities last week. And by Big Deal, I mean the Left was protesting and suppressing speech. In a very logical article, Dennis Prager described his experience at UCSB after having been compared to a Klan member in a student newspaper column for giving a talk on Islamo-fascism ( Read more... )

The bit about universities brainwashing students is so true.

Leftists argue with a series of vague emotional statements that have no real grounding in fact. When presented with facts, they resort to personal attacks and vague statements like "Well if *I* was extremely wealthy, I'd have NO PROBLEM paying a 90% tax!"

Yeah, even at Marquette, which isn't the most liberal of universities, I felt like I was being brainwashed. The university shut down a fundraiser for military snipers because it didn't fit with the "university's mission of peace" (citing the sniper motto on a T-shirt). We had "diversity", which I am in support of and all, just shoved down our throats. It felt like there was a celebration of diversity every other week. It was just ridiculous.

Whenever I complained about it though, my friends would laugh and remind me that compared to many universities, we had it pretty good.

I failed a paper once in college, because the assignment was "Write a Paper on why Feminism is the Wave of the Future", and I wrote about the problems with extreme feminism and why it is NOT the wave of the future.

It wasn't a women's studies course or anything - it was English Comp 100. The liberal professor was constantly using paper assignments as an excuse to push her agenda on students.

And the other students kept saying things to me like "Why do you always have to argue with the prof?" and "Why do you have to be a jerk in class?" They had already succumbed - an "authority figure" had told them it was so, so that's how it was.

Heh, yeah. God forbid you have your own ideas.

In another philosophy class, the prof was telling us why it was wrong to use a phrase like "Be a man" to mean "show some courage". I argued that each gender could take pride in itself rather than obscuring gender altogether. The prof simply said that no, I was wrong, it was being sexist.

Agree with your general premise, but there's a curious choice of terms:

that there is fascistic behavior among a core of Muslims

A "core" presumes that it's some group that's central or intrinsically important to the faith. And it's not. The Wahabbists and Qatb disciples are as far out in left field as the Christian Identity people are to us.

Hmm, I didn't read it that way. I think the article of choice is crucial. I think the meaning changes to your interpretation if he had said "the core of Muslims." Since he said "a core," I simply interpreted it as a solid, well-established group.
