lifehouse concert #4

Just got back from seeing Lifehouse in concert for the 4th time. :o)

It was a different concert than they usually perform. They were just in my hometown less than a year ago so I think they wanted to switch it up a bit. They played some of their lesser known songs, which was a nice change. Jason Wade's voice was a bit different than usual...he sounded like he was belting a bit more than he usually does. Definitely a different quality, but it worked for most of the songs. I went with two people that have been my best friends for years and a third who is probably the closest friend I have other than the first two. So I was in good company - and anyone who knows me well knows that's what makes or breaks an evening for me mroe than anything else.

One of the people I went with is the guy that got me interested in Lifehouse in the first place. Lifehouse is his favorite band. "Everything" is one of his favorite Lifehouse songs (one of my favorites, too). The recorded version starts slow and quiet and builds to an all out climatic finish that is simply drenched in emotion. Tonight's rendition was different and louder and much more rock than the recorded version, which kinda took a lot of the emotion out of it for me. My friend was pretty disappointed with that as well. As a matter of fact, he was pretty disappointed with the whole concert and I gave him a bit of a hard time about it, mainly because he and I agree in opinion so often that its somehow refreshing when we disagree sometimes, which tends to make me take that overboard once in a while. I probably should have just kept my mouth shut. Anyway, I think he'll get over it. I'm fairly certain he doesn't read this journal, but if he does (he should leave a comment so i know), at least he now knows that I did feel a little bad about making a disappointing concert worse by arguing with him about it. Not that I'd come out and tell him that.

Anyway, for me it was an enjoyable concert. Not the their best, but I really enjoy live concerts and I love Lifehouse's music (even if some of it was a bit different than I'm used to) so for me it was worth the $30.

friends, music
