For all my Michigander (Michigeese?) friends, with love from Fark:

Just one more thing and then I really have to stop:

And note that I'm not saying the tax hike caused or is solely responsible for economic hardship in MI. But it sure doesn't help matters.

Who says it doesn't help matters? WSJ? The current state of the economy in Michigan? How do we know for certain that this tax hike won't bring longer term benefits to the state economy?

I'm happy I'm getting my economic stimulus check. I'll be using it to fix my car. But I don't think that these checks are actually going to stimulate the economy. People need to pay their mortgages, not buy the latest fashions.

So what's the solution to getting America going when it's in an economic downturn (presuming one were to admit that were currently taking place)? I'm gonna go with Job Creation. And what's the biggest burgeoning market in the USA (other than the overseas Chinese surveillance industry)? I'm gonna go with the Green Movement.

Maybe, upon inauguration, Barack Osama will rip off his Mask of Sanity and tell Americans the truth behind his messages of Hope and Change: "You People Need To Get Jobs!"

Taking people's money away during economic hardship doesn't help matters. It's just basic economic theory. Sure it conflicts with the arrogant liberal theory of "We're the government and we know what's best for you!" but that doesn't make it untrue.

I agree, the economic stimulus check isn't the greatest idea in the world. I thought it was at first, mainly because I like to see the taxpayers money go back to the taxpayers, but it mainly depends on how we pay for it. If we cut gov't spending, then it's good. If we don't, we're just stealing from the right hand to pay the left.

Green Movement may be big, but there's a better way than guessing what's the best place to create jobs: The Market. The collective knowledge of All Of Us is way smarter than the guesswork of a few gov't morans. It's the same reason the Beekeepers and the Cloudmakers were smarter than the brilliant PMs behind those games. Decentralized collective knowledge wins every time. Give more power to the people and we'll fix our own problems. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help!" are the 9 scariest words in the English language.

The market has not historically given much of any power to the general populace.

See: The entire time period of 1870-1940.

This doesn't appear to either conflict with what I've said or offer an actual alternative to the Green Movement, so I'm just gonna let it go, I guess, cuz now my head really IS starting to hurt.

Sounds good then.

Also, I believe head hurting is excuse #5422.4 for the consumption of bacon.
