Don't laugh at me for asking a stupid question...but do a lot of kids in Africa know English? Or I guess my question is, how do they use the textbooks? It's a cool idea. Definitely better than selling them back for $20 or whatever.
It's not a stupid question at all. Unfortunately very few kids in Africa have access to a formalized education. However, almost all formalized education that is available is taught in English, and for the approximately two percent of kids there that do get a chance to get an education all the way through the university level, they are lucky if a class of 50 has even one textbook to share between them. It's not unusual that for the few that get to go to college, they'll be assigned 1-2 hours a week that they can go to the library and read their classes book.
