It was wonderful to visit with my sister Shirley in Richmond, VA for a few days. Since we seldom make it to the left coast at the same time, we figure it's been six years since we last saw each other.
We cooked and fed her lots of exotic invention dishes; she showed us some of her discovery wines from Trader Joe's where she works. Lots of hugs for Shirley and her "standoffish" cat Mulligan who has now been spoiled with four-handed petting and will need to rest up for a while.
Travel there was good with a bit of snow in PA and evening rush hour on 95 lasting past 8pm(!) so we arrived late Thursday. Today we headed west to avoid the seaboard show. There was a bit of ugly snow in the hills of West Virginia so we didn't get to see the beautiful scenery we had heard about. Mostly the bad parts were where the bridges went across the canyons and the wind was down the canyon - it was whiteout in a couple of places. After we got down to Charleston it was fine thereafter. Record time through Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago and Milwaukee got us home in good time.
