Eagles!

I'm on a business trip to Iowa this week. As we came out of Dubuque heading west, there were 30-50 bald eagles in a corn field! I didn't know eagles could be omnivorous, or perhaps there were mice feeding. It was an amazing sight..

I suppose you were on Highway 20. I recommend the pork tenderloin sandwich at the County Junction restaruant in Dyersville, should you come by on the way home at the right time of day. This sandwich is an Iowa specialty.

Highway 151 on south of Dubuque toward Cedar Rapids is the other likely route. Rolling hills like a Grant Wood painting, because that's where he was from.

First time I ever saw our noble National bird- a flock of them were eating garbage at the Vancouver BC dump. So uh yeah- pretty omniverous.

I saw them again on the way back. It turns out that they were feasting on a frozen field that had just been "spread". Doesn't give a thrill for our "noble" national bird.
