I love to travel to see my family. But the one thing I look forward to when I come home is a shower with enough water pressure to get the soap out of my hair. I don't know what the deal is at Aunt/Brother/Mom's houses, but it's like standing under a soft mist. My shower is like bathing in Niagra Falls. It really is the most perfect thing about this house.
I've had a wonderful week off from work. Got to spend some time on the farm with the doggies, as well as take a drive around Dinwiddie and explore. Then I went out to my brother's place in Salem where all of the siblings were meeting up to hang out. Driving down 460, we saw one of the runners taking the game day ball from Tech out to UVA. When I got to S&A's house, we sat around laughing and telling stories. The only thing that would have made it better is if Mom were there instead of down in NC.
We celebrated my upcoming bday (31--gah!) and little sis' bday (21!) with cake, pie and ice cream. My family, being the awesome people they are, fed my love of geek and cars.

Saturday we went into downtown Salem and walked around a bunch of stores, checking out the Christmas stuff. I spied a Antique Mall/Junk/Consignment Shop across the way and we went in. I love these places. There's so much stuff packed so tightly together, and you never know what you're going to find. I picked up a helicopter for my Uncle ($3) and a first day cover from 1946 when they introduced the 100th anniversary of the Smithsonian Institute Stamp ($2). Then I found the most awesome thing in the place (um, that I could afford, they had some really great old cars and trains). Let me present my Wesley Crusher action figure complete with phaser and tricorder. Only $7.

All in all, it was a great week. Honestly, I'd easily spend another week in VA if I could. I guess I can look forward to Christmas when everyone comes up this way ;o)
