Me on Yankees, Bill Simmons, and life
So it's been a longass time since I updated. LiveJournal just doesn't do it for me anymore. I mean, Myspace and Facebook are a much better time killer. Anyway.
I never got to update about the rest of my summer, so I am not about to do that. Its October for godsakes. But here is what's going on.
The Yankees lost to the Angels three days ago. It was pretty bad, you can read about my thoughts in The Setonian. But I will say this. The Yanks should never let it get to a Game 5. They should have won Game 3 when Big Useless started. When you score 7 runs in a game he starts, it should be a blow out. That trade just looks terrible now. And we have a 43 year old pitcher for next year. Inexcusable.
You know what's really weird about this year? The Red Sox and Yanks didn't meet in this exciting Battle Royale ALCS. I mean, the last two years have been the highest of highs and lowest of lows. What would have been better than a winner take all ALCS in 2005?
I can't say this year didnt hurt as much as last year. Last year, you kind of had a feeling the Yanks were gonna blow it when they lost Game 5. This year, we had a legitimate shot to win Game 5. Matsui left 8 runners on base (that has to be a record), A-Fraud "played like a dog," and Bubba and Sheff collided. When you play like that, you deserve to lose.
Oh well. The Yanks and Sox will come back newer and different than ever next year. I really hope the Yanks dont go after Johnny Damon. It would be great to see Torii Hunter in pinstripes. We need good defense and a solid bat out there.
As for pitching, keep Wang and Chacon around. Chacon would look great as a setup man if they can get Pavano back alright.
Anyway, I can ramble about the Yankees for 49 million words, so I am gonna move on.
I read an awesome book written by Bill Simmons called "Now I Can Die in Peace." It is a must read for anyone who loves the Sox or Yankees. The humor in the book is great, especially in hindsight. Check it out.
Life has been pretty good so far. Me and Caity have been doin great.. Her birthday is coming up on Sat. I got a nice lil day planned, if the weather holds up. I am sure we will have a great day anyway. =) I am going down to South Plainfield and her mom is taking us to Cheesecake factory. Should be a great time. I havent been down to South Plainfield in a while. It'll be nice to go down there.
Z100 has been pretty good. I am going out to dinner with all of the Clear Channel head honchos tomorrow night. I am really excited about it. It should be a good time to make connections and stuff.
That should be about it.
