Woe generally.
Woe! I got up this morning and went through to the kitchen to fill the kettle only to discover that the water was off. The fact that it was pouring with rain outside didn't help at all. It's at times like this that you realise how much you take modern conveniences for granted. And of course having had a few glasses of wine last night I was pretty thirsty too. And I had washing to do as well.
I took the rubbish downstairs to the (snarl) naturally overfull-and-not-empied-for-about-a-week wheelie bin on the corner and noticed a group of workmen from the waterboard standing at the thingy in the street that turns the water on and off. I asked them what was going on and they said the main had burst outside my house. They were in the process of turning one circuit on but if I was on the one at the bottom of the street I would be off most of the day.
Now I'm just waiting to see if the water comes back so I can have something to drink.
ETA. Oh joy, the water is back on.
