Information Retrieval Failure

Isn't it annoying when you can't remember a word? I've been sitting here for ages trying to remember a word. It's on the tip of my tongue, I'm fairly sure what letter it begins with, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. It's not an easy word to find a synoym for, so the thesaurus is no use - I've already tried it. I could spend all day on the net looking for various combinations of associated words in Google to see if anything comes up, and still not be successful. The answer, of course, is to stop trying to remember it, and it will float up by arcane routes from my subconscious. I know I'll remember it eventually, probably while doing the ironing or something, but it's a pain until I do.

This happens quite a lot these days, one of the benefits of getting older I understand. Bloody annoying.
