Most Brits don't find complaining about poor service easy. We just grin and bear it, hoping things will get better. Eventually is we have a choice we may stop using the service, but we will put up with a lot. I'm no exception.
My local Safeway has been going steadily downhill for the last 6 months or so. Every time I go in there with my weekly shopping list in my head, there's always something that's out of stock. I'm a creature of habit; I tend to buy the same things every week, and I get stressed out if I can't get them - I'm not talking about seasonal stuff of course, but regular everyday things. Erm, well regular everyday things for me. I've seriously been thinking about going somewhere else, but the store I go to is extremely convenient and the next most convenient one is not a supermarket I like. But there comes a time when the balance between convenience and actually getting what you go in for is lost, and it does become worthwhile to add that extra time to the journey.
But today, when I realised that out of the 15 or so items on my regular list, 5 were out of stock, and 2 of them were also out of stock last week, I had a radical thought. Complain! So I did. Demanded to see the duty manager and gave him a list of everything that has regularly been out of stock for the last 6 months. Go me!
It probably won't make any difference in the long run, but I can make my plans for going elsewhere knowing I've at least told them they've lost a customer.
