Not being energetic enough, or indeed still involved enough, to buy my copy of HP at midnight, I nevertheless highed me down to Waterstons at the, for me, ungodly hour of 9.30.

It was going like a fair.

There was a queue almost out of the door, and that was with five or six people on the tills. The books themselves were piled almost to the ceiling (OK I exaggerate), and the chap that served me said they had been open since 8.00 and it had been like that from the start. All people were buying was HP. I noticed some people were buying more than one copy, there were two Danish tourists in the queue ahead of me and they were extremely puzzled by the two covers - I was pleased to note that this time they hadn't run out of the adult editions as I think those covers are much more stylish than the kids' one. Last time I couldn't get an adult edition. :( I was tempted to tell the Danish tourists that in the brightly coloured cover, Harry lives, and in the other one he dies, but I didn't think they'd get the joke. They were still rather amused by there being two covers though.

Well I suppose now that I've got it, I'd better go and read the bloody thing, hadn't I?
