Keep up the good thoughts!

The vet came again this morning. I told her that this morning he drank a lot of water and seems to be keeping it down, that he can't really walk because his back end doesn't seem to want to cooperate, that his eyes are sunken, and that he hasn't done any mouth breathing that I've seen since yesterday morning. She says the problems with the caboose may be related to the injections she's giving him. When I asked if he might have been stung by a scorpion (as we've had five of them in the house) she looked him over, but didn't find anything. She doesn't think that's it.

The verdict? She does not think he will die. She thinks he's on the way to recovery. She gave him some more injections (poor pincushion of a kitty) and suggested I try to get him to eat tonight. She listened to his heart, but it sounds healthy even though it's a little fast, which is to be expected when under stress.

When I left for work, he was lying down and actually looked as if he might finally be able to get some sleep. That would be wonderful if he could. Two days awake, no food, very little water, and frightening ailments the whole time, probably pain -- he must be exhausted.
