funny people
so i went to see funny people last night and it definitely was not like what i thought it would be. it was about a super famous comedian, george, thats done some kids movies/flops as of late [i.e. kind of a lot like adam sandler is now ...]. over the years he's made a point not to have a true relationship with anyone. then he finds out he's sick and he doesn't really know how to react because he has no one to talk to about it. he ventures into a comedy club where he meets an upcoming comedian, ira, and ends up hiring him to write some material. they become pretty good friends and help each other a lot with their work. ira tries to help george get through everything while also trying to turn him into a better person.
its actually a pretty serious movie at times but is also pretty funny. a lot of the same humor as other judd apatow movies but also has a fair amount of drama. i laughed a lot in it but don't expect it to be anything like superbad or knocked up. completely different type of story but still worth going to see.
