Last Wednesday I went to see Third Eye Blind with two friends from work; Devon and Xanthe. I wasn't really into it at first; I've always liked Third Eye Blind but never super trying to really see them. Even though I have been them before, back in tenth grade, but that was again because other people wanted to go. But it was Devon's birthday present from Xanthe and I was actually really excited to go out. Plus, I actually enjoyed myself at the show. I didn't know too many songs but the few that I did know got me really pumped and thinking about all the things that those songs remind of/what was going on in my life when those songs came out. This led the three of us to randomly blurt out "Viva La Nineties!" multiple times during the course of the evening. We met up with some of Devon's friends who were positioned really close to the stage. That's when things got really interesting. People were so excited down there! This one girl rushed the stage, and was obviously pulled away by security but she kept fighting them and was literally clawing at the stage trying to get back to the band. Then she grabbed on to these cords that looked like they were for the tvs all around showing the band. So security had to stay where she was hanging on to them, trying to pry her fingers off so that she wouldn't rip them down and she banged her head on the wall. Not sure if it was security induced or her being drunk [because she was] but she got knocked out. They literally had to drag her out of the building. PS all of this took place so close to me that I could touch everyone. It was wild! And all for some Third Eye Blind haha. I had a great time!
Afterward we went to Devon's place to hang. We intended to only have one drink but by the end of the night we were dunzo. But it was so fun! I haven't hung out with them in so long and it felt good. Plus we all caught each other up on some work gossip that's ever constant. And talked about how we're not going to let work get us down because it is so not worth all the stress that it causes us. Devon and I have already made plans to go apply for jobs together! It really was a great night overall! For being skeptical at first, I had the most fun! Except for when I had to get up for work the next day. And be miserable and fight puking. And knowing that Devon and Xanthe got to skipped their class and I couldn't escape.
Worth it!
