wizards v. grizzlies

The Washington Wizards and the Memphis Grizzlies played an exhibition game at the Siegel Center last night, and student tickets were only $5! Alex, Courtney Thompson and I went together, this was the first NBA game for each of us. I was really excited because Allen Iverson plays for the Grizzlies now. I have been a fan of his for a long time, mostly when he played for the 76ers but I still liked watching him play.  It was a strange game. I guess because neither team is THE local team so there was so no understood team to cheer for. At VCU games its so loud and exciting, but this game was more laid back. I think a lot of people were there for the Wizards because they are the closest team and I think people were there to see AI but he sadly, did not play. I was a little surprised that he didn't go on even for a little bit but I'm also not surprised because I can see him being "too good" to play in a measly exhibition game. "Too good" meaning "too cool." However, I did get to see Jamison and Arenas from the Wizards as well as this player, Thabeet, on the Grizzlies. I remembered Thabeet from March Madness this past year; I remembered he was on a team that did really well but could not remember the actual school and they had white uniforms with black or navy writing, and I remembered he got hurt and it was a big deal, and his last name is Thabeet-kind of hard to forget. Turns out he played for UCONN, which makes sense, but I didn't know he played for the Grizzlies so I was excited when I saw him on the court.

The half time show was amazing! It was five or six guys jumping  on a trampoline and doing flips and then perfectly dunking! It was really exciting. Allen Iverson didn't even come back after half time, or at least none of us saw him. But it was no big deal. We were still having a good time. The Wizards ended up winning but I'm not sure of the final score. Totally worth the $5 and skipping class [no worries I'm going to her other class's lecture to catch up]. And it was worth Alex coming up for the night because it was coincidentally our 15 month anniversary! Plus, now I'm actual interested in checking out some other NBA games, either in DC or Philly for when I visit my mom!
