NO, I was not in a car accident, but I witnessed one and I was a very close and personal witness and it was not fun.
I was on my way back from South Oak Cliff after dropping off my (possible?) boyfriend, Tevan. I was on 45 North (yes, I was that deep in Oak Cliff Stuart Simpson and Bonnie Brae), and there was a black Hyundai in front of me. We were both going about 70 mph (which is the speed limit in that area) and all of a sudden he veered left across 3 lanes and hit the left center wall, then he veered right across all 5 lanes and slammed head first into the right wall. His car then slid down the right wall orienting itself forward again (so that it was facing north again) and came to a rest. I stopped behind his car and put on my flashers and dialed 911. As I was on the phone with 911 I saw the man (probably late 40's, Asian, but dressed very hip) get out of the car and kind of stumble into the traffic lanes. I could see cars in my rear view and I told the woman on the phone that I felt unsafe. I found it weird (but SO Dallas) that she didn't care she just wanted to get the cross street. I told her I would drive to the next exit and tell her what it was and that's what I did.
The whole thing was just really crazy and a reminder of how fragile life is. I have no idea if that man was alone in the car or if he had passengers or children in the car who were hurt. It was just a difficult thing to witness from so close up.
