Customer: Hey, can I ask you a dumb question?
Me: Sure, what can I do for you?
Customer: Uhm, I have this coupon for 20% off of regular price merchandise? And you have this chair that's got a promotional price of $109... Can I use this on that?
Me: ...No, Ma'am. Unfortunately, by "regular price merchandise," they mean items that are not already on sale.
Customer: Oh. Well, could you just put it back to the regular price for me?
Me: ...
Customer: So I can use my coupon on it?
Me: Well, the original price was $150.
Customer: So can I just use my coupon on that price?
Me: ...20% off of $150 is $120.
Customer: So I... can't?
Me: ...
Customer: ...
Me: It's on sale for $109.
Customer: ...
Me: ...I think it's probably a better deal just to buy it at the sale price.
Customer: Oh!
I said I'd answer one dumb question. This was a bit excessive.
