If swimming is so good for your figure, how do you explain whales?

Paddle boats rock.

I remember them as a kid, being at a big lake for some reason, all the canoes were rented so we got stuck with this yellow paddle boat. Both of us thought it was lame, but we made the best of it seeing who could peddle the fastest, getting each other wet with the murky water from the lake. Ben won of course, he would have claimed to have anyway, there being no witnesses around aside from me.

This time it was a little different. The attendant gave us a quick course in paddle boating and warned us not to chase the ducks and geese residing in the lake (do we look like the type to chase birds?). There wasn't a competition; she made me peddle the entire way, even when I put on my best pouty face. If it were not for the jeans and tennis shoes you would have thought she was some elegant socialite from the twenties--off for an afternoon picnic and boat ride. The white hat, perched slightly crookedly atop her hair-framing her face, the pink and orange flowers that didn't start to droop until halfway through the afternoon. Hats are good for a variety of reasons. Not only are they fashionable, they protect you from the sun and they make it much more intimate when leaning in to kiss someone.

Like any good romantic paddle-boating story, ours involves a tunnel of love. It had an echo and we discovered quite soon after entering the tunnel that the slightest noise would reverberate, for some reason this made us laugh and laughter loud and echoing is not romantic no matter what anyone tells you, so we left the tunnel and made our way back to the dock. The stroll through the trees was nice aside from the bird deciding that my new straw hat looked like an excellent target. Oh well, maybe it wasn't gaudy enough to match Summer's hat it needed that extra bird poop touch.

The day ended with a trip back to the apartment. We made a meal together, something simple and Summer was reassured that her chili-pepper lights were still in the designated spot.

Sorry this update took so long, I kept hoping Summer would finish hers first and I could look over her shoulder and copy what she had. No such luck, I had to wing it.
