Chapter 1
PG-13
Olivia Benson sighed as she lay down on her bed in her otherwise bare apartment, *So much has happened; Elliot’s been reprimanded, I’ve been suspended, we lost the case…* Then it suddenly hit Liv that Casey’s job had been threatened by Arthur Branch. *I should go see how Casey’s doing.* Liv got up, grabbed her keys and nearly sprinted out the door and down the stairs to head over to Casey’s apartment building.
Liv took the elevator up to Casey’s apartment, and when she got to Casey’s door she could have sworn she heard laughter coming through the door. Confused, Liv knocked.
Casey emerged with a smile that made Liv practically melt into a puddle, “Hey Olivia, what are you doing here?”
“I was just coming to see how you were doing,” then Liv saw a woman in the apartment and felt her heart break, “but I can see you have company, so I’ll just be on my way.”
As Liv turned to go she suddenly felt a hand grab hers she looked at Casey as Casey told her, “Oh, come on in Liv. Serena had to go anyway.”
“I do?” Casey shot Serena a dirty look, “Oh, right; yeah, I do. I’ll talk to you tomorrow Casey. Bye.” As Serena left she kissed Casey on the cheek and Liv could’ve sworn she gave Olivia a once-over look.
“Come in, detective,” Casey pulled Liv into the apartment.
“So you seem to be in a good mood.”
“The best; Arthur Branch has officially retired from the DA’s office.”
“So your job…”
“I still have it.”
Liv was overjoyed, “That’s great Case! So who’s the new DA?”
“Jack McCoy; that’s not the best part though.”
“What is?” Liv looked at Casey curiously.
“Well, you just met Serena,” Casey continued, “and Jack has hired her back. She’ll be working in SVU with us.”
Olivia was confused, “and why is that the best part?”
“Serena’s my best friend; plus she’s very passionate about victims, which will make her a great second chair.”
Olivia decided to test the waters, “So she’s JUST your best friend?”
“Well, Serena’s a lesbian; but she and I are just very good friends. She’s not my type. She’s yours though…” Casey let that last sentence hang, and Liv instantly knew that Casey was worried she’d lose Liv to Serena as much as Liv was afraid she’d lost Casey to Serena.
“No she’s not.”
Casey looked up unsure she had heard Liv correctly, “What? But what about you and Alex?”
“There was never a ‘me and Alex,’ everyone just thought there was. Alex was straight.”
The relief was visible on Casey’s face, “That still doesn’t mean Serena’s not your type.”
“No, but how about the fact I’ve been attracted to a certain redhead since the day we met?”
Casey smiled, “Well, that redhead has had a crush on you for as long as she can remember.”
Liv leaned in and kissed Casey, “Well I hope she can forgive me for taking so long.”
“I think she can, provided you stay the night.”
“That won’t be a problem.”
