This one's a different style for me - I find it impossibly difficult to write short scenes, so here's hoping that it worked. (If only a little!)
This follows on from "Reunion". :) Sappy and sweet, and I blame that on reading too much gorgeous Frodo/Sam fic this morning. (But of course it's Domlijah!)
Disclaimer: This is fiction.
THIS
(1 - Soft)
Dawn came softly and the pale light illuminated Dom's face, tenderly caressing his cheek the way Elijah wanted to. "And there I was, feeling like everything was finally coming together for me. My chance to shine."
He was shining, an inner glow that Elijah hadn't seen in so long. "I'm so happy for you, Dom," he said, and meant it sincerely. Hours spent talking and sharing, catching up on the multitude of events and pieces of news that he'd been dying to tell Dom for months. So many words had been saved up, to spill out through one entire night of quiet conversation.
"I wanted to call," Dom admitted, but there was no shame, just a statement of fact. "To tell you everything."
Elijah smiled at him and gave in to the impulse, reaching forward to touch Dom's hand. "You're telling me now."
The sun rose.

(2 - Delight)
Elijah was still giggling at the sight of Dom on the floor with juice all over his pants when Dom decided that perhaps it *hadn't* been accidental at all and there was a distinct need for revenge here. He fought to keep his mouth in a straight line (because the patented Elijah-giggle was always infectious) and growled.
His eyes growing wide, Elijah backed away. When Dom got to his feet, Elijah turned around and ran but he wasn't fast enough and all too soon, Dom had caught him and was dragging him across to the puddle on the floor.
"Nonono, I swear it was an accident!" Elijah shrieked in his best girly voice. Dom didn't listen. "Please, sir, don't punish me!"
And with that, Dom thought better of smushing Elijah's hair in the juice and decided that tickling was the best form of payback, because then they would both enjoy it. After all, what could be better than an arm full of wriggling hobbit?

(3 - Ardour)
Breath ghosting along his collarbone, so soft.
Each touch so light, so reverent, as they re-discovered what they thought they had lost.
Mouth meeting mouth, pulling, wanting, giving.
Nothing but the worshipful sound of breathlessness.

(4 - Sharing)
"You ever dated someone for more than a year, Bill?"
Billy nodded sagely. With the cameras off and no one to perform for, Dom became quieter. More introspective. Maybe the beer had a little bit to do with that too, but it was in the private times like this that the *real* questions came out.
"A few years back. I was young, crazy-fool in love. Thought I was gonna marry her." He trailed off wistfully, eyes seeing ghosted memories. "But we grew apart." He didn't regret it, not really, just sometimes, he wondered about the road not taken.
"Never thought I'd settle down 'til I was past thirty."
Billy shoot him a *look*, half incredulous, half understanding. "Dom, my friend, you will never settle down."
Dom chuckled softly, and then drummed his fingers on the table. "Three and a half years, Billy."
"And?"
"I think this is it."

(5 - Counsel)
"Sean, how did you know?"
The question came out of the blue, but Elijah was like that and Sean had long grown used to his friend's delightful habit of skipping from one topic to the next with little thought of connectivity.
"Know what, Elijah?" A reasonable enough question, and he watched closely as the safety guy (they should have a *crew*, in Sean's opinion) checked the harnesses again.
"Know that Christine was the one?" Elijah chewed a worn nail, and Sean resisted the impulse to swat it away from his mouth. After accidentally setting fire to his wig, they'd taken Elijah's cigarettes away and the man needed *something* to distract himself. "You were so young when you got married and I look at you and think how? How did you know?"
Sean's heart gave a thud. Merely by asking, Elijah had already made his choice and Sean knew it meant hard times ahead and problems that Sean couldn't even begin to imagine. His heart ached for Elijah, but he wanted him to be happy above all else.
"I - I don't think I ever *knew*," he answered as honestly as he could. "But one day I turned around and realised that I couldn't imagine *not* being with her."
Elijah was staring off into the distance, his blue gaze fixed on something Sean couldn't see.

(6 - Affirmation)
"Ladies and gentlemen!" Peter announced, and someone had the presence of mind to turn the music down. "If I could have your attention for a moment - we have a video to show you all." That explained the huge screen that had been set up at one end of the hall and Dom should have expected something like this.
"You know we had a lot of fun putting together stuff for the DVDs," continued Peter, and then found a chair to stand on so people could more easily see him. Dom nodded, remembering the endless performances he'd given, then pushed closer to stand beside Elijah. In this crowd, he had no qualms about putting an arm around him, fitting Elijah securely at his side.
"We had another little extra that New Line didn't let us include, so we decided to show it to all of you." There was a twinkle in Peter's eye as he stepped down and someone dimmed the lights. Music blared forth - soft, syrupy, and words appeared on the screen. "Romance on the Set."
The sappy mood didn't last for long, and soon Dom was guffawing at the sight of Sean Bean chatting up girl after girl, accompanied by the sounds of Tubthumping. The fun didn't stop with Sean - there were cuts of several cast and crew members in various stages of love-gone-wrong, and an entire sequence of Orlando kissing every single member of the Fellowship and a few elves as well.
Then it changed. Softer music, a picture of Pete and Fran working together closely, and he paused, and gave her a *look*. Sean pulling Christine and Ali into a close hug. Dom and Elijah, playing cards, and then the camera pulled back to reveal their feet hooked together under the table.
There had been four couples who'd emerged from the shoot, and Dom watched, fascinated. Lilly and Jeremy, who'd gotten married the previous year. Ben and the wardrobe girl. A couple he recognised vaguely as having worked on Unit 2. And himself and Elijah, moments captured on the camera for all time.
He smiled into Elijah's hair as the memories played out before them.

(7 - Leave-taking)
"It's almost over," Elijah said sadly, watching as people faded into the night, and the music was turned off once and for all. A lump appeared in his throat. "This is it, Dom." No more New Zealand. No more safe haven. No more certainty.
And beyond this, no promises of anything.
"Come to Hawaii," Dom said suddenly, looking directly into Elijah's eyes. "We can take it with us this time."
Elijah hesitated, knowing Billy would be there, not wanting to intrude on what was supposed to be their 'creative time', wondering how much attention he would get, deciding it wasn't important because he would be there *for* Dom, just like Dom had been there for him a thousand times before. And besides, there was sun, sand and surf. What more could he want?
"Okay," and the smile on Dom's face almost caused him to blush. Dom caught his hands then, threading Elijah's fingers through his own.
"And after that, I was thinking," and now Dom was the one with an embarrassed tinge to his cheeks as he stared at their intertwined hands, "maybe we could go to Canada?"
Elijah leaned forward and kissed him, very gently, on the lips. "Yes."
