solicit the sun,
approach him like you’re
the hill he was born on
and beg for a day
of brightness never-ending,
more eternal than a hoof print
lingering on the low plains of mars
endanger the night who dares to mock
the fallow moon in bitter repose.
birth a better thing instead,
a roundness bright and steady
in its gaze,
a deathless moon forever full.

silvery hands forever
