spinning madly like a fractured lamp,
a billion brilliant pieces eject wildly,
its shards piercing an anxious sky.
Stars stretch their taffy fingers,
caught in the sticky pull
of a tar pit sky.
the narrow space shrinks between God
and the ever dimming lights
Discovery buries itself,
like a battered well that drinks sand,
each grain dragging it deeper,
crunched under a cosmic heel,
feeling nothing but
the dust of hope.
