Jared and his Impala in Austin! And yes, this isn't Sam, but in a sense it is, because Sam lives on in Jared. And the car lives on too. Same thing for Jensen/Dean/Baby. It's magical! :D

No, all the Impalas that left the SPN lot with tags had the same one, that's been current for filming. I dont' know what happened to the 2Y5 tag, but it would be nice if someone had kept it.

The Impala with the 2Y5 plate has been seen on set recently, so maybe they switched it back afterwards?

It makes me happy that tag is still around! Maybe it's on the car that's going to the Smithsonian? Did you know we're gonna have a Baby at the Smithsonian? Popular culture man, like Archie Bunker's chair, or Mork's rainbow suspenders. Who'da thunk?

Yay for 2Y5 plate! I didn't know the Smithsonian is getting one of the Impalas! That's awesome. :)

Here's the picture of the Impala with the 2Y5 plate, which I think is from the last day of filming. So, wouldn't this be the car they normally drive (the hero car), which is the one Jensen took home?

The Impala is not going to the Smithsonian. The Impala is going to the Warner Bros studio. Warner has tours of their lot, so I would imagine the car may be included with the tour. Not sure, just hypothesizing. But the car is NOT going to the Smithsonian.

Ah. I thought Jared might have kept it as his personalized plate and, since they couldn't both have the same tag, I thought Jensen might have had 2Y5. But maybe they'll just have Texas plates now . . . which is kind of a pity, really.

Jensen might have the 2Y5, because they've filmed the main Impala with it. But like you say, they may have to get Texas plates now.
