I love Sam's face in the last one, he's so frustrated and upset at what's happened, keeping it together and continuing to comfort Claire, but you know he's gotta be kind of mad at himself, too, for letting this happen, even though it totally wasn't his fault :/

Yes, comforting her, while at the same time, he's upset when he realizes that she's been bitten. Totally not his fault, but yes, I'm sure he feels that somehow, he shouldn't have let it happen.

I thought Jared did a fabulous job there, really conveying Sam's grief at realizing she's been bitten.

Yes! Totally fabulous... the way he gives her comfort, and then the shift to such intense grief once he sees that she's been bitten.
